Gooo Titans!
by travelteacher
Anytime I can get to Tennessee during football season, I arrange my trip around a Titans home game. Tickets are hard to order ahead, but there are tons of people selling them outside the stadium before the game!
As a girl, I can tell you that southern chivalry does not die at the gates of the Coliseum. Every game I have attended, there has been at least 2 or 3 surrounding gentlemen offering to make beer/food runs "for the ladies!"
The Bluebird Cafe: Intimate Venue for Great Talent
by TravellerMel about The Bluebird Cafe
Very small and intimate - something like 20 tables, plus seating at the bar. Performances are generally "in the round" and feature songwriters performing their own original works. Come hear the songs you'll be hearing on the radio next year! This is a "listening room" and as such there is no talking during performances. No smoking, but the outside is wired for sound, so if you must step out you won't miss any part of the show. Early performances have no cover; late performances have a minimal cover - all shows have a $7 beverage minimum.
This place is world famous, and rightly so. Some of the best songwriters in the world showcase their songs here, and some world-class and famous people frequent here - both on stage and off. Lari White performed tonight, and was kind enough to autograph my CD! I am unaware of any dress code other than the standard shirt and shoes...
Hard Rock of Nashville
by Rabbityama about Hard Rock Cafe
Hard Rock Cafes are popular restaurants all over the world, and for those who crave rock music in a city of country music, this is definitely a great place to go! The atmosphere is typical of all Hard Rock Cafes, with memorabilia everywhere! Some of the things located specifically in Nashville's Hard Rock Cafe include Madonna's black outfit from her "Take a Bow" video and movie Evita, various Beatles platinum records, a signed Johnny Cash guitar, Jimmy Hendrix's stars and stripes stage shirt worn throughout his 1970 tour, and many more! The food is typical of American Hard Rock Cafes, so it is very delicious, too! (you can download a menu from the hard rock cafe website I've listed below, prices not listed)
Bar-B-Cuties!
by Don_Wright about Bar-B-Cuties!
When you fly into to Nashville, this is your lunch stop after you pick up your luggage and your rental car at the airport. It is just north of the airport off Briley Parkway.
You get to have a really good meal, and interface with Nashville locals, to start your trip. It is kind of a fast food eatery, I guess I classify fast food eateries as places where you go to a counter to order, and they have a drive thru, but do not confuse it with McDonald's or Burger King. You are now in Tennesee, and even the 'fast food barbeques' here are better than some of your set down restaurants in your home area. You will have an excellent meal. Pulled pork barbeque platter, of course!
Charlie Daniels Museum
by Rabbityama
The Charlie Daniels Museum is a small museum filled with memorabilia from Charlie Daniels. If you don't know Charlie Daniels, he's a singer who combined elements from country music, rock, and even a bit of folk music. He is probably best know for his song, "The Devil Went Down to Georgia" written in 1979. Although it is a small museum, it has many of Charlie Daniel's outfits, instruments, records, personal items, etc. Any fan of Charlie Daniels should definitely visit! The museum located in the back. When you first enter, you enter the gift shop, where you can buy Charlie Daniels shirts and other items. It's a nice museum, and best of all, it's free! I believe you can make a donation if you want to.
