Opryland Mills
by hersheybar about Opryland Mills
Gibson guitars are made here and you can tour the store and see some of the manufacturing steps in progress......I found it very interesting.
Of course you can also try out the instruments or go to the in-store bar and listen to the performers up on a stage.
Opryland Hotel
by Rabbityama
If you don't have enough money to stay at the Opryland Hotel, that doesn't mean you cannot enter and have a look around. Inside the Opryland Hotel, there are a variety of shops surrounded by a large moat/river. If you want, you can actually take a boatride on the river! The hotel staff is very nice about visitors who want to marvel at the hotel without staying there.
Opryland Theme Park
by schmoopy
Fun rides and good greasy food make this one way to escape the incessant country music, that is unless you take in one of the stage shows. About a 3 out of 5 rating for a theme park.
Opry Mills is an awesome shopping experience!
by maryinutopia
There is no more Opryland (it used to be an amusement park) but now there is the woman's amusement park...namely SHOPPING! Opry Mills has enough of that to keep you busy all day.
The Gaylord Opryland
by mtstranscribe
"Its worth the price! Stay at the Gaylord."
Although expensive, to me the Gaylord is a vacation in itself. You dont have to leave the hotel to have a blast. They do provide shuttles to downtown Nashville though, so you can boot-scoot at the Wildhorse Saloon or go to the Bluebird Cafe and listen to new songwriters and singers. Even if you dont like country, Nashville will make you love it!
"Divine"
At certain times of the day, look around closely and you will see Divine walking around on stilts. At first, she looks like a plant against a wall. Very unusual!
"The Delta Riverboat"
Take a ride on this indoor boat. The tour guide will tell you all about the hotel and its quite relaxing.

I have never heard of such a book. I would try searching online or you might give opryland a call and ask them. Sorry I wasn't much help.
Nashville in January
by Mark1978
Hi,we were thinking of going to Nashville in January 2007,will there be tours for us to do at this time of year? or is it a bad time to visit? also would we need to hire a car as when we come on holiday we like to let some one else do the driving! We were thinking of staying at the Gaylord opryland hotel or the Doubletree, any information would be most welcome, cheers Mark

Nashville is a year-round city. Plenty to do even in January. Weather is usually okay unless they get an ice storm which is rare. Snow sometimes, but usually doesn't stay on the ground too long. You should plan on renting a car at the airport. You will need one to get around especially if you are staying out around the opry. I prefer to stay downtown. Lots of honky-tonks to visit and they are in walking distance from the hotels.

I agree with Terry - any time throughout the year is a great time to visit Nashville. And you should stay downtown - much more to do within walking distance of your hotel. The Opryland area & hotel is nice to see, but once you've seen it, there's not much else to keep you busy around there and not much of a selection of food & nightlife. I'm sure that you can find similarly priced accomodations if not a better deal downtown as well.

Hi Mark,
Agree with what the others are saying. Nashville is great to visit all-year round. Opryland hotel is a nice hotel with tropical gardens inside. Lots of people go there just to visit for a couple of hours but some do stay there to relax, etc. Most of the activities take place at the downtown area i.e. second avenue and music row. If you are staying for a couple of days guess you can stay 1 night at the Opryland and spend the rest at the downtown area. For car rental, would suggest that you book one for pick up at the airport. Nashville is hard to get around if you don't have a car. There are public transportations but the routes are limited. From downtown, you can take the trolley though to get around to music row. Hope you will have a fabolous time in Nashville. I did. :)

well, I would agree with the others if, you're looking for night life, etc.
however, if you're bringing the family, I'd stay at the Opryland/Gaylord Hotel.
besides all the stuff there there's the General Jackson Riverboat trips, the bus tours, and of course the Opry Mills Mall next door.
I don't guess you could move your vacation up to Christmas ?
it's really heavily lighted and decorrated at that time of year.

There are plenty of restaurants that welcome children! If you like hickory smoked Bar-B-Que my favorite is "Bar-B-Cuties" with two locations.
Nashville has a nice "discovery" museum for children of all ages.
