Cheap, bare bones lodging near the airport
It has been about 8 years since I last stayed at a Red Roof Inn. Back then most of their properties were being renovated and they were very nice hotels for the money.
These same hotels are now getting run down, judging by the Red Roof Inn in Nashville near the airport. We booked our room online for about $54, but when we arrived the sign advertised rooms for just $49 a night. The front desk clerk changed our rate to this lower price without us even asking. Our room was on the first floor, so we moved our car in front of our door in the crowded lot. The room itself was reasonably sized, but the beds were noticeably sagging in the middle. Otherwise the hotel was clean and comfortable, but lacking almost all frills.
Free coffee in the lobby, and several restaurants within walking distance including a Waffle House.
