near broadway and the convention center

the nashville renaissance hotel has an excellent location near broadway and the convention center. the renaissance offers all of the amenities that you would expect from this better chain. for those visiting nashville to work at the convention center the renaissance offers the best location downtown.

Comfortable & Close to the Action

The Renaissance is a very nice hotel located beside and attached to the Nashville Convention Center on Commerce Street. The rooms are comfortable and the glass-walled elevators allow a great view out over the city as you zoom up and down its 26 stories.

Unique Quality: Its restaurants did not impress me all that much. For breakfast, there did not seem to be much in the way of intermediate choices between the full blown buffet (US$13) or a continental type meal. We did have one of our sponsored evening meals there and, although the food was good, the meal was held in a rather bare and uninspiring room with zero atmosphere. The basic room rate was US$145 which translated into $165 by the time various state and occupany taxes were added.

More about Renaissance Nashville Hotel

Very good location

by TripAdvisor Member goobtraveler

First off -- this is an older hotel. You can tell that by the key-card they give you (it's pre-programmed based on holes in the key). The elevator ride is pretty cool, especially if you are on one of the top floors. If you get a corner room, you get a pretty good view of Nashville. The rooms are clean, although you can tell the hotel is a bit older. I would still recommend this hotel for it's location. It's very easy to walk downtown to the bars/restaraurants. I stayed here on several occaisions and the staff was very friendly.

Not very nice

by TripAdvisor Member RHJF

This was not an upscale property by any means. The hotel is old and needs renovations. The bedding and carpet are very old as is the furniture. This is much more like a 2 star hotel not a 4 star. If you aren't picky and don't need a lot to be happy you will be fine here but if you want nice linens and clean carpet this isn't the place for you. The location, however, seemed pretty good. I checked in and prompty checked out of this hotel and found another one in the area.

Dont stay if you want to sleep

Reports about thin walls here are entirely true. Noise was terrible, and I awoke to MY headboard moving because the one in the next room was moving. The hotel is nice otherwise, albeit generic.

First class hotel!

by TripAdvisor Member Cymruman

We stayed for two nights and found the hotel was excellent. Our car was parked in the public parking opposite but that was not a problem. The room was huge and well furnished and we had no noise problems at all. Staff were very friendly. All in all it was an excellent hotel and I would certainly stay here again.

Not terrible but not great

by TripAdvisor Member LongTallSallyAtlanta

I was somewhat skeptical of this hotel after having read previous reviews, but found my experience not quite as bad as other travelers have posted. Here are three tips for making your stay better than the average: 1) Ask for a corner room. The corner rooms are significantly bigger than the standard rooms. You will have a longer walk to the end of the hallway, but I found this to be a small price to pay for the extra floor space and bigger bathroom. 2) Self-park across the street for $4 instead of valet parking for $18. The hotel entrance and lobby are directly across the street from a parking garage and it is a very short, easy walk even with luggage. 3) If you are a Marriott Elite member be sure to tell them at check-in. Elite members receive a 25% discount on all food purchases at any of the hotel restaurants (including room service) and 10% off purchases in the gift shop when they show their Elite member keycard. This is especially helpful for the breakfast buffet which is $13.95 p/p.

The best feature of this hotel is the location. It is connected to the Nashville Convention Center and the Ryman Auditorium is a 3 minute walk to the end of the block. The 2nd Ave and Printers Alley bar/restaurant area is about 3-4 blocks away and is a very easy walk strait down Commerce Street.

As for the room, my bed was a little hard and the carpet was somewhat worn out, but nothing worth complaining about. The hotel provides bottles of Evian water in each room, but be careful of the $4 per bottle charge. The bathroom amenities are standard for Renaissance and my bathroom came stocked with plenty of clean towels etc. My corner room had a large desk and lounge chair with ottoman which was perfect for reading or watching TV.

Great hotel !

by TripAdvisor Member Jonoescon

We stayed at the hotel for 2 nights September 16th and 17th 2005. The hotel is very central to Nashville and is a block away from Broadway where all the music bars are. The hotel is clean and is definately a 4 star hotel. Great views from the elevator! The reception staff were friendly and helpful. I would recommend allowing an extra 30 minutes for breakfast as there was quite a wait on both mornings. I would stay there again.

Terrible Experience w/ Renaissance of Nashville

by A TripAdvisor Member

We were at the Renaissance for a large convention in Nov. 05, this was not our first time staying there.
This time - Terrible.
No hotwater, and the desk people were ignorant and respresented every definition of the word.
Sad!
The response of the manager - "Oh, I am sorry"...

Great Experience

by A TripAdvisor Member

We stayed over the Thanksgiving weekend and had a Great Experience.
Definitely ask for a corner room, the bathroom was very big. Excellent housekeeping staff.

Make sure you use the parking garage across the street, the hotel has a walkway that connects to the garage, this was a BIG savings.

Location is perfect for walking around Broadway and going to the Ryman. And my favorite thing... Starbucks coffee on the 3rd floor.
