Sheraton Music City is incredibly mediocre

I can't believe others rate this hotel so highly. This is one of the most average hotels at which I've stayed. The rooms are very average - nothing fancy about them. I've stayed at this hotel twice and have not been impressed. I was disappointed in the restaurant - again, very bland, average food - not worth the money. The hotel is a large facility without any warmth. The only thing I've noticed about the beds is that they have boards around the bottom of the perimeter and I keep accidently smashing my toes against them and it really hurts. I did it again the second time I stayed there and then remembered, "Oh yea, this is the hotel with the boards that smash your toes." The rooms aren't particularly clean and the decor is bland. If this is the best that Nashville can do, then it doesn't say much about Nashville.
very nice

My husband and I just returned and we loved it. We stayed three nights at the Sheraton Music City Hotel and we found it very beautiful and peaceful. The beds are great, the room is nice and big, and the service is A+++. We will return to Nashville and stay again at the same place!
Ok, but that's it

I have a difficult time understanding why this hotel is rated so highly. It seems one of three reasons:
1. people have based their evaluations on their expectations for a mid-range hotel. As a mid-range hotel, this one is nice and probably deserves 4 stars.
2. hotel staff have written their own reviews to artificially inflate the hotel's ranking. This is entirely possible given the simple requirements for posting a review.
3. People who stay at the Sheraton Music City have for some reason not ever stayed at a nice hotel.
Because everyone wants to rave about this hotel, I'll focus on shortcomings.
1. The 4 story layout makes for some very long walks to your hotel room (if you've ever stayed at the MGM Grande in Vegas, this is similar)
2. The lobby can be quite smokey because the bar is essentially connected
3. The rooms are a bit dated.
4. There is nothing unique or outstanding about this hotel. It's very basic.
Despite this, I stay here fairly regularly for the value. It's priced well for what you get.
A Middle of the Road Hotel

I was in Nashville to attend a convention at the Gaylord Opryland Resorts, January 25 thru January 28, 2005. I was notified 2 weeks before my arrival that I had been moved to the Sheraton Music City. I stayed in a Junior Suite 3 nights. The staff was very friendly and courteous. When I checked in, I was reminded of the Sheraton's "no problem guarantee" or something like that. The room was comfortable. I was most disappointed with the "Jergen's" bathroom amenities. Luckily I traveled with my own soaps. There was a spot on the carpet, which was not the end of the world. The first morning, I made coffee in my room before leaving for my meeting at about 8:00 a.m. When I returned to the room at 5p.m., It was a bit distressing to see the used coffee cup still in the room, with no replacement sugar or cream. I was also disappointed to find out that I really could not get anything to eat after 11 p.m. On my last night, I returned to the hotel late, about 10:55. After getting to my room, I called room service to try and order dinner before they closed, but I was too late. It was about 11:03. And I did not get an answer at all. Not from room service, the conceriege, or any number on the phone. I finally had to get back in my car and drive to the 24 hr Kroger to get a pre-made sandwich. Yuck. But the beds were very comfortable. I never had a problem sleeping.
Is the Club Room worth the extra $$$ ?

Decide for yourself: Our room was large, the bed was quite cozy, and the decor was pleasant. We loved the large door that opened onto the private balcony for fresh air. We suffer from severe allergies, especially to dust mites and cigarette smoke. We often have horrible allergy issues in hotels but had absolutely no problems at the Sheraton Music City.
Our room was larger than the standard rooms and had the added amenity of free bottled water in the room, bathrobes, and a number of toiletry items which included Pantene shampoo and conditioner.
The worst feature in the room was the bathroom. It was so small that the door barely cleared the toilet and there was hardly room to stand between the toilet and sink or the tub and sink. Our tub had a stain around the drain and the showerhead did not adjust at all. The only mirror (other than above the headboard of the bed) was in the bathroom and with such a cramped space, it was one at a time in there. That made it take much longer to get ready for the day. We wished they had taken an extra couple of feet out of the room and used them in the bathroom instead.
The best feature of the club floor is definitely the food. Monday through Friday a staff member lays out a continental breakfast spread including pastries, hot and cold cereals, yogurt, fruit, and Starbucks coffee. After breakfast she lays out chips, granola bars, fresh cookies and brownies, fruit, soft drinks, bottled water, etc. You can go and eat as much as you want. Also, on the weekend, they leave sandwiches and some snacks in the kitchen off the club room. We loved being able to head down there at 2am and grab a snack. Also, if you brought (or Rented) a movie, the club has a massive flat screen TV and comfy couches where you could watch it with a group.
Do you want a club room? Decide for yourself. We plan to visit again and we will be staying in a club room.
a wonderful weekend

My husband and I stayed two nights in a club suite and were very pleased overall. The club floor lounge always had snacks and starbucks coffee available and the balcony in our room overlooking the courtyard was very relaxing. The room was very clean and spacious. Not to mention they are not teasing about the comfortable beds! We are looking forward to staying again.
Beautiful

Beautiful hotel! Very comfortable, the beds were great. They would have gotten an excellent review; the only problem was that I left belongings in room at check out and they had completely vanished. So just be sure not to leave things behind or anything expensive during your stay.
