Super 8 Motel Nashville

We stayed at the Super 8 Nashville in Hermitage. The room was clean, the location good. When we checked in, at 2:00 a.m., they sent us to a smoking room when we had reserved a non-smoking room. That should have been a clue of things to come. On Monday, April 4, a tornado ripped through the Nashville area and did much damage. Much of the damage was out about 200 feet from our motel. A major power pole had been bent over like a flimsy straw. The power went out and was out for two days. The motel did not have any backup to provide even minimal power. Even the emergency lights on the stairs weren't working. We realize that the storm was not the motel's fault, but not being prepared for that type of weather is. We didn't have much of a choice as to where we could stay as we had paid for our entire stay when we checked in, since we got a deal on line. The people at the motel never offered to give us additional stays, a refund, or send us to another motel until the power came back on. We have stayed at Motel 8s before and were very pleased. This particular site, however, left us not very happy with Super 8. I would not recommend this location until they get some backup power. When you are in "Tornado Alley", you need to have a backup.

Unique Quality: This location was close to the airport, right off of I-40, and only 10 miles to Nashville via interstates.
