Cheap accomodation in dotwntown Nashville

by kiwihatters

Hi there,

Myself and and a bunch of friends (8 in total) are coming through Nashville in mid september for two nights and Ive been left in charge of finding the accomodation in the downtown area. Ive had a pretty good look around and threw a couple of options out there and the response for Brick Turnpike Area was that it 'wasnt close enough to the action'. Apparently the Music City Hostel looked 'too gay'. Picky friends......

Our budget is somewhere around $60-70US per night (inc. taxes) for a double room and we'd like to be as close to the centre of the city as possible. Hotels, hostels and apartments are all fine and we're not really too phased about quality, as long as its secure and there is parking.

I was wondering if someone knew of some gems that I may have missed which would fit into these parameters, or are we just dreaming......

Cheers

Alex

I think you're dreaming. Finding something within walking distance to the downtown tourist area for the price you're wanting is next to impossible. Just to be sure, contact the Nashville Convention & Visitor's Bureau @ www.nashvillecvb.com - if there's a bargain to be found, they'll know about it.

Best of luck & have a great time visiting us!

Thanks for the response! We decided on Music City Hostel in the end. Looking forward to getting there and seeing your great city.

Travel Tips for Nashville

Music Row

by cjg1

My fondest memory of Nashville is putting my stamp on the city. I used to work here on my weekends from my job in Alabama. It was here that I built the last of the recording studios that I would do. It was a fun project and I am very happy to have been here and been a part of it all.

murfreesboro

by doug48

murfreesboro is an interesting place to visit when in the nashville area. just some of the attractions of murfreesboro are it's historic courthouse, stones river national battlefield park, cannonburg village, and the sam davis home. murfreesboro is located on lowery road about 30 miles south east of nashville. for more information see my mirfreesboro page.

Had your fill of Waffle House?

by Sarahindia2002 about Cafe Coco

This place can get pretty crowded, but it is a great alternative for a late night meal if you aren't into Waffle House.

This place serves up sandwiches, salads, and burgers 24hrs a day.

Personally, I don't think the coffee is that great, but I like to get my fix off of Caramel Frappacinos from Starbucks. So those of you who are anti-Starbucks may enjoy it (If I were you I'd also hit up Bongo Java, famous for the nun bun that looks like Mother Theresa, and Fido, a subsidiary of Bongo Java)

It can get loud inside the main room with the music and ordering and all. I would suggest going outside for some quite or going to another room.

Also, the back porch houses concerts every once in a while.

Southern Breakfast!! with Friendly Service

by gkitzmil about Waffle House

Good ( bold) coffee, eggs, breakfast meat, hash brown potatoes or grits and, of course, waffles. Friendly service and smiles. This is NOT a fancy place.... just a place that provides the grits or potatoes with eggs that I would not have at home. Plus, the breakfast is at a VERY good price! Scrambled Eggs and Potatoes.

You can FEEL the History!

by horsinround2

The Ryman Auditorium. Mental images of country music stars singing onstage invade our thoughts when someone speaks of The Ryman or "The Mother Church". Well, that is until you've been there. The Ryman is first and foremost a church. You can feel it as soon as you walk past the concession stand and into the original & beautifully restored Ryman.
Completed in 1892 by riverboat Captain Thomas G. Ryman as a gift to southern evangelist Samuel Porter Jones, The Ryman has been host to greats such as Booker T. Washington, President Teddy Roosevelt, Charlie Chaplin, Bob Hope, and of course... Elvis Presley. In addition to being a large tourist attraction, The Ryman is now a small concert venue with acoustics second only to the Mormon Tabernacle in Salt Lake City, Utah.

The Ryman was NOT affected by the May 2010 flooding. Go, see, enjoy.
