Architecture in Abilene?

Everyone talks about Abilene being such a "churchy" town. True, we do have a lot of churches. This allows us to enjoy some architectual landmarks that other towns this size may not have. However, these are really never mentioned in any travel literature I have seen.

For the sheer beauty of the building and the grounds, visitors will appreciate the Church of the Heavenly Rest (at South 6th and Meander - which is just off Sayles Blvd).

Just down the road (take S 7th east a few blocks to 8th & Jeanette) is the Sacred Heart church, also beautiful.
