La Quinta. La Canta.

When we arrived the front desk clerk was less than welcoming. It's your typical LQ that you find in any small town or off the interstate. However, there was something missing from this hotel, customer service. Apparently, their pool's pump had been down all week and was slated to be fixed the day we arrived. My son called the front desk to ask if the pool was going to be open soon as there was someone working on it and seemed hopeful that it was a quick fix (this is when we found out the hotel neglected to report the problem to be fixed for a week), the clerk was rude. All she said was no and hung up. I called the front desk to ask for a roll-away and was told it would be brought up shortly. Three hours later, we called back down to be rudely told they did not have any. The clerk obviously does not understand she works a customer service oriented job.

The rest of the evening went without any problems. The beds were comfortable and large enough. The bathroom was small, but the bathtub was huge but for disabled people, a pain to get in and out of because of that. We never got a wake up call, but then again I remembered that the clerk never asked for one even though she had the sheet out for it.

The high speed internet wireless was a little difficult to connect to at first, and slow after once connected.

The breakfast was minimal. Banana and chocolate muffins, a few kolache's, waffles and a juice bar. Check-out was quick. I did remember one thing when we were leaving, to check in, the clerk never asked for identification. So, if this is standard with all clerks, there is another issue with quality.

All-in-all, I will not be staying at this hotel again. There are much nicer LQ's out there that once you get used to the nicer ones, this one isn't worth anything.

Unique Quality: None.

La Quinta Inn

This is a pretty good hotel. It's not the best in town, but it's not bad either. They offer the standard accommadations: smoking/non-smoking, free breakfast, etc. The staff is friendly (as expected, it is W. Texas) and the location is fairly quiet compared to other hotels in the area.

I'd recommend this hotel to others, and I would stay here again.

Unique Quality: One really good thing about this hotel is free (wireless) Internet access. I think this is a must for business travelers. Also, their location provides easy accessto to I-20, which is the one of the major highways in Abilene.
