MCM Elegante Suites (formerly Ambassador Suites)
Wow! I cannot believe I haven't written about this hotel sooner, considering all the business travel I've done to Abilene *and* stayed at this hotel. Anyway, all in all a good hotel; I've only had one bad experience out of about dozen.
The first thing to note is the hotel has a new name, MCM Elegante. Anyway, the suites are very nice, quiet, and clean. Each suite I've stayed in had a wet bar. They have a huge indoor courtyard area near the front desk that's very appealing. You receive a copy of the local paper every morning. They now have a fitness center at the hotel (have yet to use; back in the day they had a free workout plan with Gold's Gym which is around the corner).
The only downside to this place is a lack of a fast Internet connection.
Unique Quality: Their location is easily their best quality. Their very close to the Abilene Mall, as well as some fitness centers and Highway US-83.

Good location to Dyess AFB
When asking my contact at the base where to stay, they always suggest the Ambassador Suites. It's certainly a more than adequate facility as each room has a living room upon entering including a sofa, side chair, TV, coffee table, dining room table, and bar that includes a microwave, mini-refrigerator, and sink. The separate bedroom is in the back and includes a full king-size bed (or two queens) and another TV.
All guests are welcome at the complimentary breakfast which includes a full array of cereals, fruits, breads, muffins, bagels, and danish. It also includes a number of hot options such as pancakes, omlettes, etc. The Ambassador Suites basically operates just like an Embassy Suites and in fact used to be an ES property and is a great deal if you can qualify for the government rate.
