Tokyo One
by kd_baby about Tokyo One
This is my favorite sushi buffet--period. Although it's not the *best* sushi I've ever had, it's still high quality and offers a lot of variety. I always seem to eat too much everytime I go here. Well, I'm fond of their sushi sashimi and their california rolls.
Champps Americana
by kd_baby about Champps Americana
Nice restaurant offering classic American sandwiches, soups and salads, as well as some Tex-Mex variety. I recommend this place, esp. in large groups (4 or more). Chicken Corden-Blue sandwich w/Waffle Fries. This is the best sandwich there IMHO.
Sam's Boat
by kd_baby about Sam's Boat
First off, let me note that I am a fan of Sam's Boat. That being said, the new Sam's Boat in Addison (opened 07/2004) doesn't live up to the hype. The seafood is "ok" at best (e.g. the crab was too salty), and the gumbo is subpar.
If you're going to eat Sam's Boat, go the Richmond Ave. restaurant...in Houston, TX. That one is much, much better. I would give this restaurant a lesser rating, but the waitress very polite and hospital.
All in all, I wouldn't recommend this Sam's Boat to anyone. I had the Mahi-Mahi dish w/crawfish and and cheese topping. It included a side of mash potatoes and mixed vegetables (read: squash and carrots in a butter sauce). Since crawfish were not in season, shrimp were used instead. The only thing I enjoyed were the mashed potatoes; everything else was "ok" at best.
Air Show at the Flight Museum
by VeronicaG
"Air Show Photo Op"
Any 12 year old kid would love to pose in the cockpit of a real airplane...
"When the Tanks Came Rolling"
We never expected to see a vintage tank roll out of the hanger where it was kept. It readied for inspection, then a loud retort came from its gun nearly knocking us all over!
"The Vets on Parade"
This former soldier regaled us with wartime stories of his Viet Nam experience.
"In Honor Of Pearl Harbor"
This table held the memorabilia collected by a soldier who lived through Pearl Harbor. The man here is representing this former friend, who has passed on.
Pictures of ships, shipmates and wartime photos kept us all interested in the displays.
"Ready for Take Off!"
Most of the vintage planes still fly and demonstrations were given that day.
"Up, Up and Away"
Photographing these birds in flight wasn't easy--but I did manage to capture one in the air.
