If you like horses check out the quarter horse museum. The American Quarter Horse Association has a museum and heritage center in Amarillo.
When you go inside you can watch a film about quarter horses and how they were developed then you can look around the museum. There are many exhibits for adults and children.
We went to Galveston during Spring Break of 2000. We stayed at a great hotel on the water, where we could look out our balcony and watch everyone on the beach, even the surfers. I must say, it isn't the prettiest beach I have seen. The water is murky and filled with tons of seaweed, but I did find some beautiful shells. Also, there are great places to eat, even if you do not like seafood. We ate at a wonderful Mexican restaraunt called " The Original Mexican Restaraunt " and it was the best I've ever had.
