Athens, though small, has a great water area and, great fishing. Many people here are retired and you'll find many boats. Many early fisherman here.

There's also rental places for boats, jetskis, etc.

Check the website out.....much more information than I could let you know. The usual fishing stuff (I'm not a fisherman/fisherwoman)

There are plenty of campsites, picnicking areas and of course Cedar Creek Reservoir lake offers good fishing (largemouth and striped bass, channel and flathead catfish) This is one of the most popular in North Central Texas.

"Kiwanis City Park"

Athens is a small town,with a small city park.Small can be nice sometimes.On a beautiful sunny day,you can see all types of people at the park.Young families or grandparents taking time to create memories with a small child.Working people,taking a lunch break under the oak trees for a change from the office scenery,and even birthday parties under the pavillion are familiar scenes at the park.Just a nice place to relax!

"Lake Athens"

Lake Athens is smaller than some of the Lakes we are used to fishing in,but don't let the size full you.The Fish are plentiful !My husband has caught some nice sized big mouth bass at Lake Athens.There is a marina and resturaunt on the lake,so if you forget something or get hungry ,it's all there.
