by twixr42
I am trying to plan a bachelorette party for 12 girls in Austin in mid October. Any suggestions? Everyone in the group is in their late 20's.

Plucker's Wing Factory
by kd_baby
This chicken based restaurant (also listed in my Restaurant section) is also another Austin original. Their staple is chicken wings, and man do they cook them up.
If you're brave enough to the "Fire-In-The-Hole" wings, their hottest wings, you can be featured on their "Hall of Fame" if you eat at least 25 wings. Yes, I'm on the wall; me a buddy split about 60 of them. I payed for it the next day--they don't call it "Fire-In-The-Hole" for how it tastes going down your throat).
Schlitterbahn
by achoo59
The Schlitterbahn (German for 'slippery road') is a waterpark in the town of New Braunfels, about a 45 minute drive south of Austin. There are plenty of hot summer days in Austin from May through September, and Schlitterbahn is a great place to cool off.
In 2003, the park was ranked the best waterpark in America by the Travel Channel. Schlitterbahn features all sorts of wave pools, slides, and tubing courses. One thing that makes it very unique is that the park is integrated with the cold, spring-fed Comal River that runs directly next to the park.
Don't forget to get some good German food while in New Braunfels. The whole town was settled by German immigrants in the 19th century.
Wild Basin Wilderness Preserve...
by zypher
Wild Basin Wilderness Preserve (www.wildbasin.org) located off Loop 360, west of town. Originally a sanctuary for the black-capped vireo and other endangered bird species, it is a breath of freshness in a sometimes crowded and busy city. Visit the community center and gift shop; take a class or guided walk from a local volunteer or walk the several trails by yourself. One is easy access. Classes and workshops are available, but call ahead and see what's offered for the week(end). Limited parking -- do not leave anything of value visible in your car or truck. Local gangs come up there ocassionally for the easy pickings. There is a scenic overlook a mile or two north of the basin that overlooks downtown.
Coyote Ugly
by frankcanfly about 6th Street
Of course, these bars have popped up in all the major cities. I've been to others in Vegas and Atlanta....
Basically, it's a bar with hot women working behind the counter. Every couple of minutes, a few will get up and dance a bit.
You can buy a 'body shot" for $20, you pay for the drink, and one of the girls will peresent your shot glass in their cleavage, or something like that. Seems a bit silly to me, but I watched a bit while having my beer.
Did I enjoy watching? um, yes.
