The sooner the better! Summer is peak time.

Just did a check on cheaptickets.com and current prices are at $800 however by June same ticket is 1,100.

Your best chance is to check the 'normal' ticket sites daily, and when you find the price you want, grab it then and there.

Also keep an eye out for cheap air fares to Amsterdam (AMS), then a second ticket to ZRH. I've found that you can save major bucks doing this. AMS is a major hub.

Good luck

Well, I ended up getting a ticket from Austin to zurich may 23 to the 31st for 750 american. Not too bad at all, but a little high....

anyhow, i ended up using Airfareplanet.com. I have been overly satisfied with this company and have used them in the past. Last time I managed to get a one way for about 300 american.

But teh service and the help from arifareplanet makes me love giving them my money!

thanks all who wrote me back!

Travel Tips for Austin

Tribute to Texas Schoolchildren

by Stephen-KarenConn

This monument on the grounds of the Texas Capitol in Austin depicts six children on a school field trip to the Capitol. School children in more than 600 Texas schools raised the funds necessary to complete the statues. The life-sized bronze figures, installed at ground level, are the work of sculptor Lawrence Ludtke.

Tribute to Texas Children was dedicated in June 1998. It is said to be the only monument of it's type in the United States.

U.T.

by mrotsmit

Oh, you hadn't heard? The University of Texas is here, they have all kinds of sports going on. Don't forget to go down to the "Drag" (Guadalupe between 26th-MLK) to stock up on all things "burnt orange": Shirt, cap, shorts, sweats, water bottle, socks, shoes, underwear, tatoo, hair, cow... I'm sure I'm missing alot of things.
Then, once you're properly geared-up, you can say things like; "Woooo!" and "You-Tee!" and "Hook-em-horns!!!" just remember not to say or do anything original, this is about conformity dammit!

Enchanted Rock...

by zypher

Enchanted Rock (www.wildtexas.com/parks/ausarea.htm) is 1.643 acres; 500ft pink granite dome; and seven miles of trails. Primitive camping; small crawling caves. Ecologically sensitive area with limited availability. Call first: Texas Parks and Wildlife Hotline at 1-800-792-1112. NOTE: No stores or gasoline nearby!

Mid-century haven

by virtualling about Room Service Vintage

If you're into mid-century, you will love this place. I liked that the items in the store were well maintained and it wasn't like a junk store like some I've been to. You can try on the clothes and shoes. Look at the photos to get an idea of the kind of things sold here. There are other vintage stores along this street, so take your time to shop around a little.
Pricing: Some things cost a lot but if you're a collector, I don't suppose you'll mind paying so much for a piece of vintage chair or jewelery. It is not a very large store, but it has a lot of interesting items. Also a good walk-through on a weekend.
Other items - Match box/ Records/ Rolling Stone Magazines/ Mugs/ Curtains/ Fabrics/ Furniture/ Clocks/ Posters/ Kitchen appliances/ Vase/ Radio/ Rugs/ Toys/ Telephone/ Ashtrays
