A room with a kitchen

Great (4.0 of 5.0 stars)
by written on April 23, 2005

We asked for a non smoking room and we got a smoking one. But it didn't matter.
The main interest of the hotel is its location near the Congress Bridge, 15 min walking distant from Downtown.

Price : we paid via Expedia 172.48$ for a double room with a queen bed for two days

Unique Quality: We have appreciated :
- the kitchen : fridge, microwave, toaster, stovetop, ustensils (but where was the pan ???)
- there is a table (on the picture) : often in the rooms with kitchen we are obliged to eat on the desk.
- TV
- Iron + iron board
- hair drier
- internet with fees
- free parking
But no pool, no complimentary breakfast.

Directions: From I 35 : exit Riverside # 233 and go West contiuing for one and one half miles. Turn left to South first street. Homestead is at the next corner on the left.

A very nice hotel

Best (5.0 of 5.0 stars)

I stayed here for 5 nights. The rooms have a microwave oven, refrigerator, counter top electric stove with 2 burners, utensils, hairdryer in the bathroom, iron and ironing board in the closet. The whole place was very well appointed. There were restaurants literally across the street. The congress street bridge "the bat bridge" and Zilker park were right there. The night club area which is 4 blocks wide and 16 blocks long is an easy walk across the Congress st. or the Lamar st. bridges.
Lots of museums and art galleries and South Congress st. (artist district) has several unique shops and restaurants.

Directions: South Austin / artist district

This hotel is reasonably priced and in a great location, I would recommend this hotel. I stayed here when my mom was in town and I thought it was good for our needs. If you are not fussy and want to be near the heart of the city, this is a great choice. You will be walking distance to the hike n' bike trail on the river and close to lots of restaurants, the bats and downtown. It is not a fancy hotel, but it comfortable and even includes a kitchenette in the room.

Unique Quality: Location and good rate for a downtown property.

Directions: Close to downtown and town lake.
