Area/Hotel Recommendations: Travelling with 6-month old
We will be in Austin with a 6-month old for two days (Dec 26th and Dec 27th). Which is the best location to stay in Austin so that we dont have to drive to get to the main areas/attractions and also very walkable. Is it the downtown area? Any specific hotel recommendations?
I searched a bit and came across these hotels. Any recommendations?
(1) Radisson Hotel and Suites Austin - Town lake
(2) Omni Austin Hotel Downtown
(3) Hyatt Regency Austin (barton springs Rd)
(4) The Driskill Hotel
(5) Hilton Austin (500 E 4th street)

I stayed at the Radisson years ago when it was still a Holiday Inn. It's a bit dated and not particularly close to Austin's attractions, but it's a decent place.
I wouldn't take a kid to the Driskill though. It's a little too up tight.
Not sure about the other places.
Have you thought about the Extended Stay America there on Sixth Street? Very well located, free parking (used to be, at least), and you get a full kitchen in your room.

I stayed in a Homestead Inn & Suites last month, it was across the street from quite a few restaurants and you're not as far from South Congress... What specifically do you want to visit?

Since the 6 month old won't be running wild, all of the hotels should be ok, with the exception of the Driskill. Its a very high end hotel, so they likely would be receptive and accommodating, but it may not be the wisest use of travel dollars. I have stayed in all of the other hotel recommendations, and I would rank them like this:
Driskill - nicest
Hilton Austin - closest to 6th street, 2nd closest to Capitol
Omni - Closest to Capitol and Bob Bullock Museum
Hyatt - Across Lady Bird Lake, closest to walking trails, far walk from Capitol.
Radisson - You picked alot of nice hotels... and the Radisson.
