Modern Paradise in a funky town

This place just says "Zen". Head through the garden like entry way to be greeted by the very friendly and accomodating staff to check in. Then head over to your clean, fresh, minimalist room - with just enough bells and whistles, like internet connection, to make it business travel friendly, but this place is all about relaxation! Just take a look at the eco-friendly amenities, including peppermint soap which will wash the stress away.

But enough about the room, - the reason to stay is the ambience and community feel in the common areas. So drop your bags and head back along the sandy path to get settled on the patio deck and indulge in amazing edamame, sangria and other tasty treats while gazing over to the boutique style pool. Say "hi" to your neighbor, read a book, watch the sunset, whatever - just do it Austin style with some good tunes and little funky flare...

Have a great stay and enjoy!

Great Boutique Hotel on S. Congress

I am a resident of Austin and I often have friends or family stay here. It is a great Boutique hotel in the heart of "SoCo". There is a great coffee shop, Joe's, next door. There is no room service but there is a light menu available on the patio, with a great wine list. The outdoor patio is reminiscent of an Asian garden with simple decor and bamboo.

I love to come here and have some wine and chat with friends.
The rooms are simple and comfortable.
Features can be viewed, http://www.sanjosehotel.com/features.html

Unique Quality: Pool, atmosphere, high speed internet. The coffee shop next door often has a movie night in the parking lot! It is in the heart of great shopping. A nice area to walk around in and there are plenty of places to eat within blocks.

Per the website, if you are in a band and are in austin to play a gig, they will give you 10% off your stay.

young trendy fun hotel

I had a great stay in this hotel. My expectations were happily exceeded. Built in 1939, but far from being outdated or feeling old, it is an amazing hotel with both bingalow style accomodations and rooms with shared bathroom. I stayed in a room with a shared bathroom. Disappointed upon arrival but it worked out great, it was NEVER a problem. Make sure you book as far ahead as possible. i booked two weeks in advance and had to be put on a waiting list for the room i stayed in. BUT well worth it. Zen like garden throughout property, nice staff, retro artful rooms, and a great outside patio to have drinks by candlelight after hours. alot of attention has gone into the design both interior and exterior and into the keepup of this retro gem in artsy South Congress.

Unique Quality: Rooms are dressed fun and funky. Colrful art and accesories but simple, clean walls and bedding. Complimentary robes (during stay), handmade soap, great towels, and new linen. Has a pool which is somewhat private, surrounded by 20ft. high bamboo. The first Thursday of every month there is a block party on the street right in front of the hotel, perfect time and place to stay. Street is lined with venders selling art, crafts, jewelry, clothes, soap, windchimes, food.......and of course lots os live music. Starts about 6 or 7 pm. Smart to go about 8pm. This town closes a bit early. By 12pm almost everyone was cleared out. The hotel is very close to the river, beautiful, up and coming artsy neighborhood. Offers room service, bike rentals, internet connection, video and music library. In the morning a must do is walk to Jo´s, a coffee, the coffee shop next to the hotel.

Modern Semi-Urban Independent Hotel

Hotel San Jose is located a few blocks south of Town Lake (Colorado River + a dam). It is on South Congress which is a developing/developed shopping and nightlife district in south central Austin. The hotel properly leverages modernity, price and location. Be careful though and plan ahead as it is constantly booked weeks in advance. For more information they have a website with floor plans, prices and tons of pictures: www.sanjosehotel.com.

Unique Quality: Modern design, independent austin business, Hip cafe/interior space, location, interesting clientele

Hip Austin Hotel

If you are looking for a hotel that has the total Austin feel, San Jose is the place to stay. This redesigned hotel is right in the cool part of town on South Congress street, now known as The SOCO district. You will be centrally located and get a total feel for the Austin scene. You will be walking distance to the river, the bats, restaurants and clubs. They have a really nice patio bar and pool and lots of local and touring musicians like to stay here. When we were at the bar one night we saw the lead singer from the "Talking Heads" hanging out there.

Unique Quality: Centrally located, great patio for hanging out and people watching, nice pool, right in the midst of the hip part of town, walking distance to everything, right next to a great coffee shop...should I continue?
