Well, in Egypt, I learned that the Pharoahs believed that hippos were the root of all evil, and that the heiroglyphics depicted hippos as evil characters... but I do not believe they are considered the same thing at the Umlauf Sculpture Garden.If you like peaceful, serene walks in nature, you will love this place.
The Umlauf Sculpture Garden & Museum is a non-profit organization founded around the work of American sculptor Charles Umlauf. Our work is dedicated to providing educational experiences that encourage the understanding and appreciation of sculpture.
In 1985, Charles and Angeline Umlauf gave their home, studio, and 168 pieces of Umlauf sculpture to the City of Austin. Six years later, in 1991, a new museum was built on adjoining city property with private funds raised under the leadership of Austin arts patron Roberta Crenshaw.
