Area scenes -- urban to rural
As a city, Beaumont came of age during the early 20th Century, when art deco ruled. The Jefferson County Courthouse, at the corner of Franklin and Pearl streets downtown, is one of the most prominent examples in town of this architectural style.
Heading north along Park Street as the sun begins to set on a Saturday evening. The Crockett Street Entertainment District (distant in the photo) is just beginning to get its Saturday night crowd.
The San Jacinto Building (left) is another example of early 20th Century architecture. Its clock tower is one of the most recognizeable features in downtown Beaumont. It was recently restored after being damaged by Hurricane Rita in 2005. On the right is the old Hotel Beaumont, which has been converted into an assisted living facility for the elderly. In the distance is the lighted sign for the restored Jefferson Theater and the Art Museum of Southeast Texas.

These photos are of my secret hideaway! LOL I will never reveal to anyone where this is as it is always peaceful and quiet with little if any litter.
