My beach house
When I lived in Corpus Christ, my friend Jake and I rented a beach house on North Padre Island. If you are planning to move here, I would recommend this area to live in.

We stayed for one night and are very pleased. Here's why! Price was great. Rooms were clean and spacious. Beds very comfy. Plenty of hot water and good water pressure. Wireless was excellent. At check in were professionally greeted by Front Desk Staff. They were extremely gracious, helpful, and welcoming. Parking area was good. Easy drive to Padre Island National Seashore. We spent our days on the beautiful beach. If you want affordable comfy digs while you spend your days on the beach, this place is perfect. It is also quiet.. Breakfast is Delicious and Hot. The room was clean, spacious and comfortable with all the necessary amenities. The Hotel is easily accessible to Mall, Beaches, and restaurant. I recommend this hotel to everyone.

San Antonio, Houston, Corpus Christi - North Padre Island, Austin, Fredricksburg, and more...
These are some really great cities that I think everyone should visit at least once in their life! ;-)
Attractions:
AQUARIUS PARK - city park located off Whitecap about 15000 Aquarius. Playground equipment, covered picnic table (wheel chair accessible), basketball & volleyball courts. Equipped and maintained by the North Padre Island Lions Club.
BOB HALL PIER - A Padre Island beach attraction open 24 hours a day to the public as a fishing pier with an admission charge of $1.00 per person. Rod, reel, and bait rentals and purchases are available. Cost is $1.00 usage fee of your own equipment on the pier. Pier extends beyond the third sand bar into the Gulf of Mexico 1,240 feet. Tel: (361)-949-0999.
J.P. LUBY SURF PARK - Nueces County Park. Has popular Padre Island beaches, with surfing pier made especially for the sport to increase wave action. Festivities are held at this location on the Gulf of Mexico during Spring Break and on many holiday weekends. Surfboards may be rented along the seawall and at many island shops.
NORTH PADRE ISLAND VISITOR'S CENTER - Located on South Padre Island Drive/Park Road 22 opposite Island Marine Services. Guidance and brochures on all Padre Island Texas attractions. For more information call (361)-949-8743.
PADRE ISLAND NEIGHBOR CARE CENTER-
Primary medical care and physical fitness center. Located on South Padre Island Drive across from Subway Sandwich Shop.
PADRE ISLAND NATIONAL SEASHORE - created by the Department of the Interior in September, 1962, the 133,000 acre coastline area is reserved for public recreation. R.V. sites, information office, and artifact displays are included in the facilities. Located at the end of Park Road 22, the Padre Island National Seashore extends all the way to the Mansfield Channel, a distance of some 70 odd miles, covers the entire area between the Gulf of Mexico and the Laguna Madre and includes Kleberg, Kenedy and Willacy counties. Malaquite Beach area on Padre Island National Seashore is one of the few areas where driving is prohibited on a certain section. Driving is allowed, however, on the majority of North Padre Island beaches. For more information call (361)-949-8068.
BIG SHELL AND LITTLE SHELL NORTH PADRE ISLAND BEACHES - famous spots located inside the Padre Island National Seashore for great shelling in a less crowded area. Four (4) wheel drive vehicles are a must after a certain point 12 miles south of the beach which is noted by a large sign. Check with hotels/condos for four wheel drive rentals.
Grasslands Nature Trail - just inside the Padre Island National Seashore boundary. Native plants are designated along this two mile asphalt walk among wildflowers.
PADRE ISLES COUNTRY CLUB - 18 hole golf course located on North Padre Island. Twice rated in the top 25 golf courses in Texas. A champion course. Tennis, pool, lounge and dining room.
SEAWALL located on the Gulf of Mexico in front of the condo/hotel area allows a leisurely stroll and beach bicycle rentals. Rentals are also available at this seawall site for umbrellas, lounges, and boogie boards.
Go FISHING or SHRIMPING...seine for your own bait in the Laguna Madre by wading in knee-deep water while operating a push-net. Nets may be purchased at area bait shops.
WINDSURFING and JET SKIING may be seen along the many island waterways. Stop along Padre Island Drive for rentals or to just watch and enjoy the sports.
If a resort style Gulf experience is not for you then say no more and head to Corpus Cristi. The town itself doesn't have much to offer, but nearby Mustang Island or North Padre Island both offer a nice retreat from the five star facilities. It's an ideal place to camp, shore fish, and even do some beach 4x4 driving.
Mustang Island, North Padre Island
This particular beach is one of the most absolutely beautiful beaches I have seen. I was there once, after the Labor Day Holiday, and there was absolutely no problem getting a very nice room at the Holiday Inn located there. My friend and I went beachcombing and found hundreds of sand dollars on the beaches. Some were even still alive, because they still had a greenish tint to them.

Where are the best beaches to spend 3 -4 days in Texas at the end of June?
It really depends on what you're looking for. Galveston will be a party place, but there is no drinking on the seawall itself. The beaches there are nice, lots of lifeguarded beaches and things to do other than just the beach.
Follets Beach and Surfside are smaller communities, the beaches are sometimes clean, sometimes not.
Quintana has a county park that is really pretty nice with restrooms and showers, BBQ pits, and places for horseshoes & volleyball. It is a pedestrian beach...pretty ok.
Corpus/North Padre Island is very nice, and like Galveston, there are things to do other than just the beach. They also have a new Schlitterbahn water park.
South Padre Island has the prettiest water & beach (further from the river mouths that stir up brown water in the gulf). Never been there, because it's quite a drive, but I hear that it is the best Texas beach.
Are you looking for a spring break college outing, a family trip...what exactly do you have in mind?
The ONLY beach to go to in Texas is South Padre Island!!! Galveston is disgusting, wouldn't dream of swimming in it! South Padre also has some great hotels too!
I'll be flying with my wife and young daughter into New Orleans at the end of June, spend a few days there exploring Louisianna and then do a drive trip thru Texas, flying back mid-July from San Antonio. Thanks for the tip. I'll be spending close to a couple weeks altogether in Texas.
another fun point about south padre is you can easily cross into mexico for the day and check out the plazas, etc.
Yea, if you have a couple of weeks, I would definitely make the trip to South Padre. It will be a bit of a drive, but there are several nice paths in depending on where you put it in your Texas agenda. The closer to the mouths of the major rivers you get, the muddier the gulf. Down around Mexico, the water is prettier. We're gulf coast rats though, and we swim in all of it. Always have and always will. But just between us, the water is murky & brown down much of the Texas coast, and the sand has river silt mixed in, so it doesn't brush off like the coarser sands in Florida or Hawaii or someplace like that. It kind of stays with you.
South Padre Island is the best, but if you can't make it that far down, it's about a 5 hour trip from San Antonio. Check out websites for Port Aransas, near Corpus Christi.
