"Sparkling City by the Sea"

I don't know where the term Sparkling City by the Sea came from. I suspect from a public relations firm trying to promote our city for tourism. It's truly the best kind of place to live. Not a big city, but bigger than a small town. Our population is about 275,000 and located on the Gulf of Mexico in south Texas. I have lived here all my life, my ancestors settling here way back in the early 1800's.

Many people here (usually younger sorts) complain there is nothing to do in Corpus Christi. I think they haven't looked around much! We have quality museums, beaches, college and professional sports, and many other activities. The dowtown area is unique because it sits right on Corpus Christi Bay and the Marina. There are miles of beautiful walking and biking paths along the bayfront. The dowtown area has enjoyed a revitalization in recent years...although all I see down there is a bunch of nightclubs. This may appeal to some people.

Corpus Christi enjoys the amenities of a big city, while still retaining the familiarity of a small town. If you live here for any length of time...you see your friends and neighbors wherever you go.

The border towns of Mexico are just 2 hours away...nice for a day or weekend trip.

"The Beaches"

Padre Island National Seashore and Mustang Island State Park are just a short drive away. Port Aransas and Rockport are also great place to visit. Lots of deep sea fishing, artists, and interesting shopping in these two towns.
