dallas in may

by wedoooo

me in dallas for a friends wedding the first week in may. the idea is driving around a wee. in and around dallas and further and just enjoy life. at night having drinks and check out the nightlife. i'm totally easy like sunday morning and just want to spend a great time in dallas. i think i could even convince myself to check out a typical cowboy line dance place.... don't know yet.
so what's good in your city. locals advice needed.

There are many places to go check out for those type of activities. Daytime and early evening dinners in a casual environment- West End is a good place. Its very safe and real easy to get to if you just take the train. For an upscale nightlife and dinner situations, you can go to the Knox-St. Henderson streets off of US-75. There are many trenty and upperscale night spots there. A nice nightclub to go to is the Ghostbar at the top of the W hotel nest to American Airlines Center. Other places to kick back will take you to Addison (Dallas North Tollway and Beltline) where you can go to popular casual bars like Sherlocks, Logans, Dukes,or if you like Salsa Dancing go to Gloria's (lessons on thursday nights). The comedy club is also located there as well as Petes Dueling Piano (look it up online). Since you ll be there in the summer you could probably go to the Rangers game. There is a six flags and a hurricaine harbor next to the ballpark. Gay district is located off of Cedar Springs where one can get some decent food and go dance to music not typically played at the mainstream areas. Finally for your country-western go to Red River which has multiple bars, mechanical bull, large dance floor lots of women and men wearing tight wranglers and cowboy boots. They have lessons on Sundays if I remember correctly. Or you can go to Cowboys-Arlington or World Famous Gillys. The last two I have never been to. I think you can have a good time here. Taxis are crazy expensive here, its cheaper to rent a car/driver (not necessarily a limo), there are alot of police and state troopers handing out DWI's like flyers to a party.

Travel Tips for Dallas

Pegasus plaza

by OlenaKyiv

It is very small area and very beautiful. Unfortunately I didn't see it on summer. I believe it is very amazing when it is warm and nice. Plaza has fountain and some interesting fun sculptures. It is the place where you want to sit and dream about something mysterious and unbelievable. You should see this small corner in the large city.

The Outfit

by keeweechic

Costume for Women's Traditional also remains tribal specific, sometimes with elaborate beadwork on long buckskin or trade cloth dresses. It is tradition for a woman to exercise proper etiquette and wear shawl into the dance arena. a fancy-shawl dancer with full regalia will have a dress, leggings, moccasins, cape and shawl - all matching in decoration.

Granbury Texas

by yooperprof

Just a short 20 minute drive to the southwest of Ft. Worth is the county seat town of Granbury. In Granbury you'll find a neat array of smalltown shops and restaurants grouped around a classic couty courthouse. Also, the Granbury Opera House is here, featuring excellent productions of plays and musicals by energetic and talent casts. Hi Katie!

Road To Freedom

by keeweechic

The sculptures show Africans, warriors, griots, guardians and freed slaves in various poses. They were created to depict a story which told of the road from slavery to freedom. Various facial and physical emotions are portrayed. Although small, the park I feel has a great significance in Dallas’ history. This is one of the largest Freedman Cemeteries in the country.

A "Hard Rockin" time.

by Carrie27 about The Hard Rock Cafe Dallas

At the Hard Rock Dallas you can see live music at night (local and national acts) and eat/drink or you can go during the day and just eat and drink. This Hard Rock has many items lining the walls, including some things that belonged to Madonna, Bruce Springsteen and my favorite: KISS! I do not know about a formal dress code but do dress up a little bit to go here at night, such as jeans and a nice shirt, etc.
