Wedding in March and Thai dancing

by minikns

Hi! I'll be getting married in Dallas in March...What's the weather like by the end of March? Furthermore, I'm looking for a traditional thai-dancing group that we would like to hire for our wedding reception. Does anyone know where or who I can contact in this regard?

Thanks

The weather is generally sunny with a slight chill in the evenings. Great month for outdoor activities.

You might contact the Thai Embassy in Dallas about the dancing. Their number is
214-740-1413.

Congratulations on your marriage!

I actually was married in March two years ago, and my advice is this:

If you are planning a afternoon wedding, you will be fine and it will be beautiful (unless a major cold front or rainstorm comes through). If you are planning anything outdoors after 6pm or so, make sure you rent heaters. We planned ahead and had the heaters at the ready just in case for our BBQ reception the night before the wedding, and boy are we glad we did! What was a beautiful warm afternoon turned very cold at night!

Travel Tips for Dallas

The Accomplices!

Next tip: Make sure your GETAWAY car is driven and navigated by 2 intelligent people who can "Get you to the bar on time!"

Before my arrival into DFW, Jim35 made sure he scoped out the closest location to the airport where we can meet. He also went "above and beyond" the call of duty by calling the bar to ensure they served LEMON-DROPS. All bases were covered thanks to Jim's strategic planning!

Having a friend like Erica as "Designated Driver" ensured we made it to our destination in a timely fashion...............it also helped Jim35 squeeze in a few extra glasses of JD and coke since he didn't have to drive his drunken self home!

Travel in search of The Mansion on Turtle Creek

by OlenaKyiv

I decided to walk from West Village to Mansion on Turtle Creek. Tell you the truth I didn't see anything interesting about Mansion; however, I discovered nice park area along the creek with tall fashionable buildings. Try Turtle Creek Dr and Cedar Springs to see new condominium buildings with prices of condos counting in millions.

I know I don't live in such condo but it is fun to see how rich people live. I imagine what I can see in LA :-)

Bonnie Parker

by keeweechic

Probably the most well known resident at Crown Hill is Bonnie Parker. Bonnie was the infamous partner of Clyde – the notorious crime duo. She was born in Rowena Texas but moved to Dallas when her father died in 1914. She met Clyde in 1930. He was jailed a couple of times before they began their reign of robberies. They hit grocery stores, filling stations, and small banks. During one failed robbery attempt, Bonnie was captured and jailed in Kaufman but released when the grand jury no-billed her. From the pair reunited and continued on their deadly crime spree through Texas Oklahoma, New Mexico and Missouri. Despite massive attempts to track the two down, the law enforcement failed until finally in 1934 the two met a violent end in an ambush near Sailes, Bienville Parish in Louisiana May 23, 1934.

Bonnies remains were moved here to Crown Hill from Fishtrap Cemetery in West Dallas in 1945 along with her sister Billie’s 2 children. Bonnie’s mother Emma is also buried here. The inscription on her tombstone reads “As the flowers are all made sweeter by the sunshine and the dew, so this old world is made brighter by the lives of folks like you".

Address: Crownhill Cemetery, Lombardy Lane and Webb Chapel Road.

First Wednesday--international night

by TexasKyle about Cafe Madrid

The first Wednesday of each month is international night at Cafe Madrid. It's a fun scene starting around 8:00 with lots of Latin expatriates drinking sangria and mingling with locals. The party usually moves next door to Sambuca around 11:00 for salsa dancing and goes till late.
