TRE/DART from airport to Dallas

by saraki

Hello, has anyone actually taken the TRE into Dallas and then connected to DART to head to White Rock Station? I am curious, form a first-hand perspective how difficult it would be for a foreigner coming to Dallas to figure out and how long it takes. Thanks, Saraki

I've taken DART trains into downtown Dallas and then transferred to buses to get to places like Fair Park and AAC. It's pretty easy. The DART/TRE websites will help you out:

Saraki,

It is not difficult at all. The train system is not nearly as good as Europe, but is still fairly efficient and you will not be waiting too long at the station. Thanks for coming to Dallas!

Travel Tips for Dallas

visit downtown.

The views of different sky-scrapers were especially impressioning for me, as a man who did not see a REAL sky-scraper in a real life. I never thought before the architecture of high buildings can be so many-sided... Those times when I was in Dallas, there were two buildings in my hometown Tallinn that were higher than 20 floors. Nowadays, we have two 'sky-scrapers' more, and one of them is looks like a small coopy of this one I have been photographed (If I do not mistake, this is a building of Wells-Fargo Bank) - you can prove that if you visit my Tallinn page, where I put the photo of our version of this building.

Be one hell of a stair master!

Reunion Tower is located in downtown Dallas. Most people have listed in the Things to Do section (like I have, as well). However, I wanted to put it in the sports section as well. For those of you who love to get out and do things more physical you might try climbing Reunion Tower. It is now apart of the Hyatt family but is available for visiting and climbing. Walk up the 837 step staircase and have the best views of Dallas. Stay in the ball for an hour (55 minutes, actually) and you will have rotated 360 degrees around. If sitting or shopping is not your specialty I would really recommend this to you!

Admission is $2 for adults, $1 for seniors (age 65 and over) and children (age 3-12).

Open Hours: 10a-midnight F, 9a-midnight Sa, 10a-10p Su-Th Bring a good pair of walking/running shoes. Water! A good partner or some music to listen to! Also, bring your camera with you because you'll love the views once you get to the top.

Arlington Six Flags over Texas

by keeweechic

The park celebrated its 40th anniversary in May 2001. Six Flags is set on over 200 acres. Aside from the rides there are stunt shows and musical reviews and a puppet theatre. After all the wonderful weather we had had, the day we went to Six Flags was grey and bleak, windy and amazingly cold after previously experiencing 32C temps. It certainly put a damper on the day and because of the winds, some of the rides were closed and of course the photos didn't turn out that spectacular.

Deep Ellum

by KnotH3ad about Deep Ellum

I rember this place as a grungy rock n roll hang out, but it's been cleaned up a little since I was in college. There are a couple of clubs that let under 21 in (specifically The Trees) and there are lots of live local bands and a couple of breweries. Cover charges can be pricy and can discourage bar hopping. Anything goes.
