looking for a good gay bar

by inshawn

Im only 18 and it is real difficult to find a lesbein club that will allow me in. Any sugestions? I have been down Oak Lawn and after being denied twice, I thought i might need to do some research.

RE: looking for a good gay bar

The legal age being 21 is likely the problem. Look in the local phone book for a gay and lesbian community center. If there is a local gay and lesbian newspaper you may be able to find a copy in a local bookstore (or restaraunt that has a gay clientel.) The community papers are a good source of information on local meetings and functions. If you are a student, many colleges and Universities have student groups (I will be forever greatful for the student group at my undergraduate school, and I was a founding member of the student group at my graduate school (it is still going.) If you are not a student this may be a good reason to go back to school.

Take care,

David

RE: RE: looking for a good gay bar

I am sure that David is right about the problem: most places that serve alcohol don't want to hassle with the extra rules and oversight that admitting in people under 21 will cause. However, there seem to be a few.

Look at http://www.caven.com/ and look at Station 4 and Sue Ellen's. Please look to get the most up to date info, but it seems that they both allow under 21s in, with restrictions...

For other sites, look at the Dallas Observer (which I really assume that you already have)...I would think that every gay place in town (as well as many stright ones) advertise there...

P.S., yes, I am straight, but I used to know a lot of gay people in politics...OK, they were Republican (really)...Dallas is a very cosmo city, huh? ;-)

Travel Tips for Dallas

The Movie Studios

by Kodi01

The Movie Studios at Las Calinas is a working soundstage wehre many populare feature films and television programs are filmed.

There is also CBS film studio where Chuck Norris filmed Texas Walker Ranger. It was right outside of where my company is located. Seeing the filming of Texas Walker Ranger and trying to get a peek at Chuck.

The Dance

by keeweechic

Many of the Native American traditional dances come from seasonal or life-cycle events. They are also pertinent to regions and tribes. Some are performed in groups while others are performed solo and while there is freedom for individual expression by the performer, most are within certain guidelines of the traditional form.

Dallas Farmer's Market

by picklegirl

You can find almost anything here: produce, flowers, Mexican ceramics, wooden armoires, jewelry...you name it, it's here.

Located in the southeastern corner of the central business district in downtown Dallas at 1010 South Pearl Street.

Tribal Burial Traditions

by keeweechic

With the development of Central Expressway which lies right next to the cemetery, there was an outcry for respect. When some 1,500 graves were unearthed, Excavators found evidence of burial with traditions which were practiced back in those times. The graves were all facing East. Adults were buried with artifacts such as broken plates, buttons, cowrie shells – all typical of African burial and the children were buried with their play toys. The bodies were all recovered and reinterred.

Location : Freedman's Memorial - Corner of Lemmon Ave and Central Expressway (Hwy 75) in Dallas

The Gingerman

by btex about The Gingerman

It's a good English style pub which has many different international beers on tap - as well as wine and food. I knocked back my share here. It usually gets pretty crowded on weekends. The bar was named after the book, The Ginger Man, by J.P. Donleavy - strangely enough, it's about a guy who drinks too much. casual
