NIGHTLIFE/DANCING/LIVE MUSIC

by bluesandzydeco

Where is a good place to go for middle age married people that like to dance to live music? We like blues, 80s music, Country, & soft rock.
Thanks,
Linda

Re: NIGHTLIFE/DANCING/LIVE MUSIC

Were you suggesting Dallas because you are bound to public transportation, or is your question for the general DFW area? If so, I would recommend House of Blues in downtown Dallas or Billy Bob's Texas in Fort Worth. If you are really into live music, venture down to Austin, the Live Music Capital of the World.

Also, if you like all kinds of music, head to the Deep Ellum area, but you are bound to find a few different types of music there.

ATX listed the first two places I thought of... House of Blues (Dallas) or Billy Bob's (Ft. Worth).

Travel Tips for Dallas

Buy a Mapsco. It is a detailed map of all the streets in the area. Dallas is famous for confusing streets and exits.

Also take time to visit downtown. It is full of little surprises. There is an underground mall, water art, trollys from the West End Market Place to McKenny Ave., and so much more. I miss the excitement of the big city and the variety of activities available all in one town.

Dallas is the sister city to Fort Worth

by Kodi01

You will see much more customs and culture in Fort Worth as far a cowboys.

There are stockshow parades which are fun and state fairs.

The State fair of Texas starts September 25 this year 2004 and is the largest in the country featuring BIG TEX!

Cotton Bowl

by kd_baby

This American football stadium is antiquated, but it's very rich in sports history, esp. for colleges and universities in the Southwest US.

In its heyday of the SouthWest Conference (an NCAA sports conference that was almost completely made of Texas colleges from 1914-1996), the famous Cotton Bowl Classic was hosted here. Traditionally, the UT Longhorns and Oklahoma Sooners play here for the "Red River Shootout" in the fall. Also, a fireworks display is also held on Independence Day annually.

Dallas Arboretum

by keeweechic

Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden is set beside White Rock Lake, in sight of downtown' Dallas. The Arboretum features 66 superbly landscaped acres of towering trees and fragrant gardens circling lush lawns. There's something to see year 'round, from the gorgeous blooms of springtime to the vivid colors of fall.

When the sun goes down in Dallas

by Carrie27 about Trees

Trees is one of the premier live music venues in Dallas. I have played here with several bands and it has a good atmosphere and sound system. Local as well as national acts play there nightly. I saw The Donna's there a few months ago and the place was jumpin'! There is really no dress code but most people do try to look nicer than the average, everyday garb.
