Well I'm here to tell y'all they celebrate here in Dallas also. I just went on a whim; I didn't know anyone there. Anyway, although the festival was free the food costs money (and it's overpriced on purpose) and is provided roughly 1/2 dozen Thai restaurants in the area.
I hate to admit this, but as I Thai food lover this was the first time I ever drank Thai Tea! It was great, as with most Thai food I've ate (except Papaya salad...yuck).
Anyway, it's a fairly small festival, but you get to see some Buddhist monks, a statue of Buddha, a statue of King Rama V (I have know I idea who he is, but I'll find out), and watch some cool performances. When I was there, the current festivity was a "Thai Idol" contest, which was nothing to run tell mom about (but hey, at least they tried).
