East Dallas
by jbolen
We are thinking about staying in East Dallas and driving to Canton for First Monday Trade Days. Are there any areas in east Dallas that we should avoid?
Re: East Dallas

Are there any hotels that you are already considering? If so, I can give you an idea about the location. For the most part... the areas of East Dallas that you would want to avoid probably won't have hotels.
What is your budget? I may be able to recommend something.
Travel Tips for Dallas
How to make the SHORTEST VT MEETING EVER a success
by Geisha_Girl
You've got 2 hours at the airport and a group of *virtual friends* to meet in the REAL world.
How do you make sure not a minute is wasted during this 2 hour layover?
First, it helps to have your plane arrive on time.
Then you must make sure you strategically plan out your area of pick-up with your WELCOME WAGON. Note that if your flight is delayed, it's best to know the make and model of the vehicle that is picking you up.....then RUN don't WALK ! If the vehicle is still moving upon your arrival.......make use of those Airboxing classes and LEAP into the backseat!!!
(Be sure to steer clear of any oncoming traffic though..........you wouldn't want to re-enact what happened to me at Washington Dulles!)

Arlington - Ameriquest Field
by keeweechic
Formerly known as Arlington Ball Park , Ameriquest Field is the home of the Texas Rangers. This stadium cost $191 million and took 23 months to build, it has a capacity for 49,178 people. There is an infield tarp that is mounted on hydraulic lifts and stored below ground level. Outside the park there is the Rangers Walk of Fame where you can read about each team in franchise history on the brick path beneath them. Inside the park there is a 17,000sqft museum and children’s learning centre and a 4 story office building. The field itself is 22ft below street level so as to avoid summer winds.
Plano
by grandmaR
Plano is another suburb of Dallas which has many corporate headquarters.
The Plano Sports Authority has this complex which includes a full size NHL hockey rink. The actual PSA center is two years old
The website says: "Plano Sports Authority was founded as a non-profit agency in December, 1970 when the individual sports leagues incorporated to form one administrative youth sports organization. It provides quality year-round recreational sports leagues to all boys and girls who live within the Plano Independent School District and surrounding areas."
Contemporary Art Gallery
by VeronicaG about Craighead Gallery
For those of you who enjoy art galleries, Dallas has many. My husband and I spent a pleasant Saturday afternoon visiting some of them.
The Craighead-Green Gallery featured a number of contemporary art pieces, as well as sculptures and other media housed in a huge warehouse style building. The large expanse certainly highlighted the art.
When we were there, two of the artists were preparing to secure a massive oil painting to the wall. Most of the pieces we viewed at the gallery were giant-size creations.
DHome Magazine and Dallas' Where Magazine have selected it as one of the top galleries in the city. Kenneth Craighead and Steve Green opened the gallery in 1992 and it has since moved to its location on Dragon Street.
Although there were a couple of vibrantly executed paintings that drew our attention, the prices are definitely scaled to the serious collector. If you are considering art as an investment, come to peruse at Craighead-Green Gallery.
Hours are Tues.-Fri. 10am-5pm and Sat. 11am-5 pm It's an investment!
