Anasazi Fire Rocks
by keeweechic
Something very unique at the festival were fire rocks. These are Native American handmade, real stone, oil burning candles. All these pieces are individual shaped stone. The bottom piece sits on a shallow oil dish, the smaller stone sits on the top with a cylinder and wick going through both pieces into the oil. You can buy these on the web (www.comancheartist.com). These pieces are made by Gordon Tonips.
The Nutt House
by yooperprof
If you go to Granbury, consider staying overnight and booking a room at the Nutt House, on the courthouse Square. It's a charming early 20th century hotel that is being carefully restored to its former glory. It's just a neat place to stay, a far cry from the cookie-cutter motels right off from the freeway.
Metro Retro - Great American Kitsch
by geanster about Metro Retro
I absolutely love shopping at thrift stores for hip retro decor like clocks, sofa's, glasses, lunchbox's, tables, handbags, record bowls, ashtrays, lamps, etc. and somehow, they've managed to compile all of the most Fabulous finds under one roof. 50's, 60's & 70's baby!
Of course, you'll pay more than if you were to get your hands dirty scavenging through all of the thrift store's yourself, but it's definitely a great place to have a look around. It's located right beside Scalini's which offers my favorite pizza in Dallas so why not have a bite after you look through the shop.
A Mixture at The Westend
by keeweechic
If you're expecting to see big hats, steel guitars and fiddles, you will find them here but Dallas also sings the blues, folk, jazz, rock and roll and heavy metal. There are comedy clubs, piano bars and nightclubs. The West End is a great place to hang out, sit outside, have a drink and listen to the orchestra of different sounds from the various bars. If you are looking for Planet Hollywood, its now closed.
