Stone Street Gardens
by OlenaKyiv
I saw this place on the map, but I had hard time to find it. Then I asked one of pedestrians and the man was kind to show me a small passage between buildings. It had poles with hanging flower baskets, small metal coffee tables and some restaurant on the corner. it was Garden I was looking for. Because I didn't find it on my own, just let you know that it is not so far from Pegasus Plaza, you should go East on Main St and look for the passage (it doesn't look as garden) on your left
Modern Day Pow-wows
by keeweechic
Today the pow-wows are freely held and has become a time where many tribes gather together to share their stories and just generally a time to have fun and socialize. The songs sung at these pow-wows are both old and traditional and modern day compositions. Pow-wos are seen as being really essential for the survival of Indian people and their culture and for the next generation coming up to learn and enjoy.

Head over to Cowtown
by ATXtraveler
If you are in search of the real Texas, you likely can pass Dallas right by. Dallas is not known for its Western heritage, and frankly has done as much as possible to move completely away from anything that would signify itself as a Texas town. The flat layout does not add much adventure to the city, and if you were to walk around the downtown area, I doubt you would know you were not in any other Midwest US downtown area.
If you are interested in learning a little bit about western heritage or just seeing a little of the "Real Texas", I would head out to Fort Worth, which is located 25 miles or so to the west of downtown Dallas. If you are visiting with a rental car, that would be the easiest, but if you would like to use Public transport, then just hop on the TRE train from Victory Park and head over.

Irving
by keeweechic
Irving was a cotton growing region along with truck farming, dairy farming, and poultry production. Farmers often sold their harvests in Dallas. In 1964 the world's largest trucking terminal was built in Irving.
The Dallas Cowboys football team's stadium is in Irving, so are The Movie Studios. Also Irving is known for Los Colinas, the centre of Irving and 'The Mustangs' - bronzed sculptures which appear to galloping across a granite stream. The Mandalay Canal Walk is in the heart of Las Colinas. There are a number of businesses in the surrounding buildings and hotels. The walk is tree lined and very peaceful – and during the week days many office workers and diners take advantage of the tranquility.
Irving is about 11 miles west of downtown Dallas.
A Night at the Proms... Not quite
by keeweechic about Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center
This is a multimillion dollar facility 260,000 sq ft and is the home of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra. There are concerts here all throughout the year. Just before Christmas they had a Christmas Carols evening with the Dallas Symphony Chorus. It was a fabulous night and a great way to see the inside of the centre especially all decked out in the Christmas theme. We were way up in the ‘gods’ but it was still superb and a great entertainment centre.
