Dallas lights up at night time...
by Kodi01
Dallas is a very modern city with unique buildings that capture you eyes as you drive by the city.
I was surprised how modern it was and not a single cowboy on the streets...... I think it was when I first arrived in Dallas, I expected cowboys and horses and there are outside of the city, the ranches and all.
But, downtown is modern and a beautiful city. It is fantastic city to see and there is just everything to do here. I could not ask for more in one city. I LOVE IT! ;o)
The First 7-Eleven
by keeweechic
The very first store was originally opened in Oak Cliff, Dallas (corner of Edgefield and 12th) in 1922 . An resourceful employee of the Southland Ice Company decided to start selling eggs and milk on Sundays and evenings at a time when other stores had closed for the day. The original name given to the store was Tote'm which was then changed in 1946 to 7-Eleven which related to the stores operating hours.

For a fun night out, go to The Rose Room. It is located inside of what use to be The Village Station. It is a female impersonation show. It is so much fun! The guys look great (I need to take hair and make up tips from them). Be sure to bring plenty of $1 bills to tip the singers.
SMU (Southern Methodist University)
by keeweechic
The university was founded in 1911 by the United Methodist Church (as it is known now). It has to be one of the most impressive campus’ I have seen. The initial entrance is heavily tree lined with fabulous buildings either side. SMU as is it known, consistently ranks in the top half of national universities in the ‘America’s Best Colleges’ guide.
The university takes up more than 600 acres and is managed by a Board of Trustees that includes civic, business, education, and religious leaders who represent various faiths and geographic areas
Address: 6425 Boaz Lane (off Mockingbird)
Dive Bars are COOL
by elmcarra about Shuck N Jive/Memphis
One of the staples in the Addison area (North Dallas), Shuck N Jive has been going since before I was a legal customer. Its fairly small, hole in the wall almost dive bar. Probably the best "bar" food in dallas. Choose from blackened catfish Po-Boys, Garlic crab claws, MINI-BURGERS (my personal favorite), red beans and rice, and oh yes, dont forget to order some oysters!! Theyre farmed oysters so theyre very safe to eat, Ive never had a problem in over ten years. They have a small but excellent staff in a sports bar atmosphere. I have run into many a professional athlete in this little spot. If you go, talk to Lenny...he is a complete nut. If youve had a few and get the urge to dance, Memphis is right next door. Live music every night with Dallas' most talented local cover bands so you can dance and sing along at the top of your lungs. Watch your step, they keep it so dark in there you have to be practically touching someones nose to be able to see their face. Casual but hip.
