Budget + Clean + Safe Accommodation

Hi there, I'd be travelling to El Paso soon. Could you recommend me a hotel that's about US$70 per night, that's clean, safe and close to zip code 79925? Thanks!

It looks like you'll be near the airport. Not sure how safe these hotels are, but, here's a couple of hotels.

Drive Trans Mountain Road. But make sure you have Good brakes. It is almost straight up and straight down. The Mountain is in the middle and El Paso and Fort Bliss are built around it. Nice little picnic spot about half way up on so but don't try camping there. My to be husband and i didn't want to stay on base one weekend so we decided to go camping with a small tent. We found this picnic area and there were some other people there with a bonfire and tent. So we decided to stay there too. Pitched our tent and bedded down. About 2am some body came driving up and put a spot light on the tent. and yelled come out with your hands first and real slow. My boyfriend went first and when I stuck my head out they had a gun on him and were questioning him. It was the cops. When they saw that it was a guy and a girl, the guns got put away but we were told to go back to base.
Mexican majority and shopping in American way :-)

In El Paso and at Albertsons, a chain grocery story, I could observe shopping in American way. Well, it's not specific to El Paso but for the USA, maybe except well heard Spanish language used by American Mexicans (or immigrants from other countries of Latin America) doing shopping that is common in the Southwest. Hispanic or Latino of any race are over 75% of the El Paso population! Once I had an impression that it's easier to communicate in Spanish than in English in El Paso.
Shopping for those who don't work (some $$$ and time needed :-):
1. Looking for discounts for basic food and others in the morning (advertisements in local daily newspaper, TV, radio)
2. Driving a large pick-up truck or similar "monster" sometimes many miles to catch the discount
3. Buying exclusively food on discount (sometimes 50-80% less expensive, usually some 10-30%)
4. They usually pay using local cards issued by a chain supermarket. It gives some additional discount (1-5%) for many or all products including sometimes a little bit lower price for gas at gas station located by a discount store
5. They have people who pack their shoppings into bags at cashier (great for single costumers!). It's very rare in Poland and happens in some supermarkets exclusively before Christmas where people buy more than during the next 11 months, I think.
For those who work:
1. No daily shopping
2. Internet shopping or/and call for food
3. Weekend shopping.

Taco Cabana

This is a good Tex-Mex chain restaurant that includes a salsa bar with all of your meals. I'm hear to the Taco Cabana (that I went to) in El Paso is just as good as most of the Taco Cabanas in Ausin and San Antonio. I order chicken fajita tacos with some guacamole.

Within the revitalized downtown area are a number of venues for conventions and appreciation of the performing arts. There's also a find museum here. I have here a link and some photos of the empty facilities during bright daylight.
