You must visit Billy Bobs, it is the largest Honky Tonk with bull riding, rodeos, bars and famous Country and Western bands perform in concert. It is kind of like seeing the 'stars' squares in Hollywood, all the the famous C & W stars have their hand prints or huff prints displayed. There are concerts from the best........this is the place to perform. You can even ride that famous 'mechanical bull'.

Grand Hotels~Heritage Trails Markers
by Yaqui
In March 1878, the lavish El Paso Hotel opened on this block. The three-storied, gas-lit, first class hotel featured a telephone and billiard room. It quickly became the major gathering place for city leaders, businessmen, visitors, actors and gamblers. Regularly scheduled stagecoach service from the hotel allowed passengers to connect with trains to the east or take the 1560-mile stage journey west to Yuma.
Additions were made to the hotel and it was renamed the Pickwick. The hotel’s name changed to the Delaware in 1891. The Delaware was demolished in 1911, and the seven-story Westbrook Hotel opened on the site. In 1917, the Westbrook’s crowded lobby became the center of frenzied oil boom activity. A lobby sculpture was named the “golden goddess” because of the many oil deals made around her. The Westbrook was torn down in 1978 and the “golden goddess” now resides at the Petroleum Club at 7th and Main Streets.

Fort Worth Nature Center and Refuge is on the shore of Lake Worth at intersection of 199 highway and FM 1886. At the 3500 acre nature center there is a large pasture with live buffalo, an interpretive center, and miles of nature trails for hiking and bird watching. My favorite trail goes through a marshy area and has a board walk out over the water. I've added more photos from the center to the travelogue. These are Winter photos and it is much prettier in Summer.
Western Gear in Sundance Square
by VeronicaG about Retro Cowboy
Sundance Square has a number of shops with a Western theme--Retro Cowboy has quite alot to offer in this regard. This store is packed with gifts that shout TEXAS!
It's a great place to find Western inspired souvenirs and children's clothing, leather purses, candles, armadillo candle holders, vintage posters, specialty foods from the region, t-shirts, rhinestone buckles, leather belts, country western CD's, cowboy hats, longhorn stuffed toys, wooden signs (picture 2), candy novelties (picture 3), wines from Texas and more.
It's fun taking our visitors here because they always find something to take home. A nice perk to one's visit is that parking is free at Sundance Square on the weekends--so why not drop by! Western-inspired items moderately priced to pricier items
