Airport-Fort Worth

by serg_juv

Hi,

According to the tips found in this web site, I think the best option to go to Fort Worth from the Dallas/Fort Worth airport is to catch the Trinity Railway Express ($1). Am I right or someone thinks of a better option?.

Thanks

Re: Airport-Fort Worth

That's what I would do. The airport provides shuttles to TRE station (CentrePort,) and it should be $1 to ride to Ft. Worth. Here's the website about it: http://www.trinityrailwayexpress.org/tre-ridebuy.html
Information booths at the airport should help you with it.

Travel Tips for Fort Worth

Biker Lane

by ATXtraveler

The weekend scene on Exchange Street in the Historic Stockyards District is definitely a biker hangout, so don't bother trying to find street parking! There are several outdoor patio bars on this street, so there will likely be a massive number of Harley Davidson motorcycles almost all day on the weekends.

I didn't put this information in warnings or dangers, because these bikers are the harmless type, but bear in mind that you are in their territory!

Quebe Sisters

by keeweechic

I first saw these girls on TV. on either the Texas Country Report series or on the Today Show. I was delighted to see them performing in the stockyards for the festival. While again, I say, this is not my sort of music usually, its great to see young performers enjoying their music. These fiddling sisters from Burleson, Texas often play their western swing, vintage country and tradition - often in 3 part harmony. They are Hulda 13, Sophia 16 and Grace 18 (2004). Their interest in the music came after going to a local fiddling contest and all 3 decided to get into it. They have each won Texas State Fiddling championships. The highlight of the girls' young careers to-date was an invitation by Ricky Skaggs to perform as his guests at the 78th birthday celebration of the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, TN. These girls are just so talented.

The Homeless Christmas Tree

by sswagner

Texas has some famous trees such as the Treaty Oak in Austin or the tree where Santa Anna surrendered to Sam Houston at San Jacinto. Fort Worth has one particular tree which has found its way into the hearts of some citizens. It can be seen in the westbound lane on I-30 between loop 820 and downtown. This small windswept tree is on a small hill just to the side of the interstate. It is often found decorated, however it always seems to be an odd tree in an odd location. This is considered to be a miracle tree, because a mimosa is not usually found in this setting. A long time ago, a lady adopted this lone tree and decorated it around Christmas in honor of the homeless population. Over the years, others have decorated this tree for all types of occasions. In the photo, it is ready for Valentine's Day. Many locals drive this highway everyday and wonder about the tree. It is hard to approach it directly, because it is off the highway shoulder and there is not any parking nearby. Therefore, you will likely see it in passing.

The tree has continued to gain local fame by appearing in some news stories. Now, there is a children's book about this tree. The title is "The Homeless Christmas Tree".

Log Cabin Village is one of...

by brdwtchr

Log Cabin Village is one of Fort Worth's best kept secrets. It is at 2100 Log Cabin Village Lane just across University Drive from where the zoo is. There are about 8 or 10 old cabins set in the forest there. Each cabin has unique historical signifigance. At each cabin there is a person who can explain about pioneer life and the history of that particular cabin. I've added a travelogue with some more pictures from Log Cabin Village.

Elegant Westernwear in Sundance Square

by VeronicaG about Leddy's Ranch

Leddy's Ranch is where you may want to go if you're looking for 'dressing up' your Western look. You'll find Lucchese Boots, fine men and women's clothing, snap shirts, many styles of leather belts, cool cowboy hats, comfy blue jeans and great jewelry all trimmed or decked out in Western style...but elegantly.

I like to browse through this shop to look at all the trendy clothing! I'm drawn to the Western boots each time I visit--but I'm stalled by the price. However, these boots look so well made that I'm sure they'd last a decade or more!

There is also a Leddy's Ranch at the Stockyard District in a more casual setting. In any event, there may just be something waiting here for you at either store.

Hours are Mon.-Thurs. 10am-7pm; Fri. & Sat. 10am-8pm; Sun. 12N-5pm. Fairly pricey
