The monumental building was built during the depression of the 20's and 30's and designed by Wyatt C. Hedrick featuring Texas Limestone and a mix of Beaux Arts and Classical styling. The most dramatic space within the Post Office is the lobby, which runs the entire length of the building.
The holes that they are digging are for the camp fire and cooking. There are rules and regulations to all this as well. The crew must consist of one cook and two helpers. (Crews can consist of four members but no more than four). They all must furnish their own wood and all food must be prepared on site and cooked over a wood fire. The Fort Worth Fire Department requires rocks or stones around the fire pit which also have to be brought along with the wagons.
This tower and domed arena are part of the Will Rogers Memorial Center. If sun was not behind the tower would be a better photo. There was a rodeo being held there on January 18, 2002. It is located across the street from the Amon Carter Museum in the Cultural District.
This lovely statue is called the “High Desert Princess” She stands in tribute to all cowgirls and stands in grandeur in front of The National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame. She was donated and commissioned by The Burnett Foundation and sculpted by Mehl Lawson.
The museum is located at 1720 Gendy Street in the heart of Fort Worth's Cultural District.
This is the place to go in FW for beer tasting. They have something like 250 different beers available. I'm a Hefeweizen fan myself (Paulner) and their version available on tap is awesome. Nothing special, just dress decent. They don't seem to care that much though. There's no cover during the week, and on the weekends it's $2.
