airport lovefield

by beverlystrickland

how many miles is it to lovefield airport from the radisson, and what would be the best way to get to the radisson from Lovefield airport?

Re: airport lovefield

by bocmaxima

There are 3 Radissons in Fort Worth. Which one are you staying at?

If Downtown, you can take the train (http://www.trinityrailwayexpress.org/) to, maybe, DFW, then take a taxi to Love Field. There is a bus that goes from Downtown Dallas to Love Field, but it's really slow and would only good unless you're desperate to save money. That is an option though.

Downtown Fort Worth to Love Field is about 38 miles though.

Yep, maps.yahoo.com says about 32 miles from the Radisson on the north side of town that you referred to in the other posting. There aren't good public transit options. Most visitors rent a car and drive.

The TRE (http://www.trinityrailwayexpress.org/) runs from downtown Dallas to downtown Ft. Worth, but you would have to take a bus or taxi from the airport to downtown Dallas, then take the train (NO SERVICE ON SUNDAY!), then once in Ft. Worth, take a taxi or bus up to the hotel.

Is renting a car an option, because that's how 99+% of the visitors here would do it...

Travel Tips for Fort Worth

Will Rogers Memorial Center

by VeronicaG

After rejoicing in finding a parking space at a nearby lot, we walked awestruck a block and a half to the entrance of The Will Rogers Memorial Center as this towering structure grew larger and larger. It was quite impressive.

Hundreds of people were streaming into the Coliseum on the last weekend of the annual Stock Show and Rodeo Competition. We almost missed it!

No wonder more than two million people visit the Center annually to see their favorite equestrian, sporting or entertainment events or to attend a business meeting or an auction. It's an amazing place!

This mega-center was constructed in 1936 and occupies 85 acres upon which sit three venues:

*The 8,000 seat Will Rogers Coliseum, where the Southwestern Exposition and the Livestock Show and Rodeo are held, as well as, other sports and equestrian events.

**The Will Rogers Auditorium, which brings in over 2800 people for each event, ready to rock to their favorite concerts and Broadway productions.

***The Will Rogers Equestrian Center, one of the top livestock facilities in the world, offering more than 1,000 stalls. The Rodeo!!!

A 19th Century Drover in the 21st Century

by grandmaR

The six drovers in 19th century gear have to ensure that the longhorns stay together -- and off the sidewalks. The diverse group of drovers are picked for their horsemanship and people skills. They have to be able to answer questions about the cattle drives from spectators or the media. Some of the drovers reflect the contributions of blacks and Hispanics to the cattle industry - about 30 percent of the 18th-century drovers were minorities.

The job does pay a little better today. In the 19th century, wranglers earned about $20 per week. The Fort Worth drovers make about $13 per hour, plus benefits.

Texas White

by Sweetberry1

Texas White is a pure Chardonnay variety grown at Delaney Vineyards in Lamesa, Texas.
Texas White is a semi-sweet white wine suited to complement any seafood or white meat dishes. This wine is also excellent as a before or after dinner drink, and pairs well with cheese and crackers.

Rodeo Plaza Murals

by Yaqui

As you walk the hallway, hopefully you will notice the wonderful beautiful murals that adorn the upper part of the walls. To me they represent the history of Ft. Worth. I just was taken by them. Most just say "That's Nice. Not me, I have a appreciate for all art, especially mural art that is sometimes lost by a layer of paint.

Located at 2501 Rodeo Plaza & Exchange.
