Travel Tips for Fort Worth

Impressive Skyline

Ft. Worth is a lovely, unique city, that commands more than one visit to show you the best of what she has to offer.
Just looking at the impressive skyline, makes you want to go within the heart of this city, to explore what makes her pulse.

Chuck Wagon Parade

by keeweechic

The festival kicks off with a chuck wagon parade on the Friday around noon and works its way from downtown Fort Worth, down Main Street, to the historic Fort Worth Stockyards. First of all the mounted Fort Worth Police strut their stuff.

Chisholm Trail Mural

by Bullabong

A must see is the Jett Building (1907), which features the Chisholm Trail Mural painted by Richard Haas in the mid 1980s and spans the building's southern façade. The mural commemorates the Fort Worth segment of the Chisholm Trail cattle drives of 1867-1875. It is huge and I had trouble getting the whole mural in my photograph!

Comanche Chief Quanah Parker 1852 -1911

by Yaqui

I think it was about time that they had some representation of our Native heritage. I think Quanah Parker was fearless, but yet proud of his Texan heritage. The fact he was able to accept change and conform to the white ways and still in keeping who he was and where he came from. He was very keen to the white way and became one of the wealthiest American Native Indian in the US. He was friends with President Theodore Roosevelt and earned much respect from the white man. He was also founder of the Native American Church, with one of his sons, White Parker becoming a Methodist minister. I remember some had requested that he should not have so many wives and to choose only one, he responded if you do not like it, “you go tell them.” When he died he was buried with his Mom and sister.
