Waht's the 76103 zip like?

by R.Jones

Moving to Fort Worth and beginning to house hunt.

What can you tell me about the Northeast area of metro Fort Worth.

Specifically the 76103 zip.

We are accustomed to living in urban areas having lived in downtown Kansas City, but not comfortable with over the top "hood".

Thoughts?

Hello there, ForthWorth is an awesome city, You can see and feel the History of the west all around, Courtesy, Charm, and Counrty folk
but just like any big city, Forth Worth is also home to Gangs, and a criminals... they have a high crime rate, drug trafficing, and just about anything else You might expect.. the NorthEast is a good area, working class people, surburbin like souroundings... I think You'll be happy with it out there...

Travel Tips for Fort Worth

Forget Dallas - Ft Worth is the Place

by keeweechic

Fort Worth has so much to offer. Don't go to Dallas without leaving a couple of spare days to visit Fort Worth - more if you can because there is so much to see and do.

The downtown area still retains an old feel to it and is uninhibited by too many tall modern buildings. Walking around downtown is very easy and there are some great shops and restaurants.

The Cultural District is filled with amazing museums and galleries and they are all close to each other to be able to get around them easily - but allow plenty of time.

Speak Texan

by btex

Learn to say 'Y'all.' Most native Texans use it frequently. It's much easier to say than "You guys." There are no real rules for the use of y'all - just throw it out there whenever you feel like it. Y'all come back now, ya'll hear?

The C.R.Smith Museum or American Airlines Museum

by VeronicaG

Named to honor American Airlines first President, the C.R. Smith Museum is a one-of-a-kind museum highlighting commercial aviation beginning in the 1920's to the present time. Did you know that registered nurses were the first stewardesses?

Upon entering you'll be guided to a theatre, where you'll view a 15 minute film tracing the history of American Airlines. You'll actually be sampling first class airline seats.

See exhibits featuring a Wright R 3350 engine; Fokker 100 cockpit, a 'glass cockpit, which pioneered new computer technology; read about 'drag' and 'lift'; see assorted airplane models and witness a touching tribute to those in AA who perished in the 9/11 tragedy.

A full-size DC3 is ready for your inspection. You can enter the plane, check out the seats and peer into the cockpit. For more information see website below.

The C.R. Museum is at 4601 Highway 360 at FAA Road, Ft. Worth,Texas

Southwestern Bell Historical Marker

by Yaqui

Located towards the left corner of the Renaissance Worthington Hotel is a plaque located on the front sidewalk on 200 Main St, Fort Worth, Texas, 76102.

It reads: On this site in September 1881, Fort Worth’s First Telephone Exchange was founded by Southwestern Telegraph and Telephone Company. It initially served 40 customers and employed three local employees. One hundred years later, telephone service is supplied by Southwestern Bell serving 750,000 customers and employing 3,300 people.

Placed by Southwestern Bell – North “B” Service Community Action Team September 1981

What was funny that day, a businessman who was passing by stopped to see what I was looking at. He was like, I never noticed that and has been walk by it so many years. Because of me he stopped to read some history of an area he has been walking by every day.

Inside was heaps of Goodies

by keeweechic

Inside there were heaps of things to buy or just to have a laugh at. An ideal place for buying souvenirs of Texas.

So much imagination has been let loose with some of the goods in there - really cool stuff.
