ALWAYS KISS ME GOODNIGHT: A Relaxing Guesthouse
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • ALWAYS KISS ME GOODNIGHT was as sweet as it sounds. This Fredericksburg guesthouse offered two pretty guestrooms. We lodged in the Sundance Suite, which was located at garden level. It was priced a little higher than the second guestroom because it was roomier. This extra space gave us a great opportunity to invite our friends, the Meade's, to join us for conversation and a glass of wine before leaving to have dinner. Our friends were staying in the Starlight Suite, second level. If we had preferred to cook our meal in, a nice sized kitchen with refrigerator and microwave, would have provided all that we needed to do so. Cabinets and drawers were stocked with dinnerware and small table and chairs sat to one side of this vintage-style room. A living room with small tv and gas fireplace, a bedroom with Queen bed and small tv, private bathroom with jacuzzi, plus a parlor with additional seating and second gas fireplace made our guestroom comfortable and cozy. The upper and lower decks at the rear of the house were perfect for a restful moment or two and had a view of the generous back yard. There was parking on the side of the house and in the front. As we settled into bed each night, we could hear music playing from one of the restaurants and a little traffic noise drifting down from Main Street, but this was not long in duration and we did have a pleasant night's sleep. *Reservations must be made by using First Class Bed & Breakfast Service--see telephone number below.

1894 Pullman Palace Car B&B: One of the most interesting places to stay in TX
  • Satisfaction:
  • This Probably the one of the most unique hotels in the south. The inn is a restored Pullman Palace car that was once used by Teddy Roosevelt. Very romantic, but the location leaves a little to be desired.

B & B Cyclismo: Great location, comfort, and Peace
  • Satisfaction:
  • Homemade breakfast served right to your room, which was a suite, fresh squeezed juice (yummmm). Nice sitting on back porch overlooking creek then walking to the wine bar two blocks away! Everything nearby, but homey, peaceful location. Owners very nice, interesting, and helpful. Absolutely recommend! 100%

Great views, like being in the country right downtown, great location--walking distance to everything--excellent breakfast, great hosts. Super comfy bedding and the rooms are all private suites.

Chuck Wagon Inn B & B: If you like a SURLY host...
  • Satisfaction:
  • If you like to feel unwelcome, unwanted, a burden guest and hurried out of the room - then stay at the Chuck Wagon Inn B & B! "***y" Becky and her husband Sam Higgins own and operate the Chuck Wagon Inn B & B in Fredericksburg...........its quite a shame Becky doesn't like people, including Sam, because it would make her job a lot easier! The first morning Sam got ***ed out for not helping out in the kitchen, and was the butt of as many jokes as Becky could make at his expense. The second morning the breakfast discussion was lead by Becky about all the horrible and abusive guests they have hosted over the last few years......and how her $1,200 comforters were constantly being put at risk! The third morning we skipped the rampage and opted instead to sleep in......darn it for us we didn't get our butts out of the room by 11 sharp (we would have been gone by 11:05)- Becky made sure and pounded at the door at the exact moment and required that we give her the towels so she could start the laundry! I have stayed at a dozen B & B's across Texas and have NEVER come across anyone as "***y" as Becky! She wins the prize!

In case you are a person of less than average intelligence, ***y Becky has provided about 15 notes taped all over the room with instructions on how she would like your behavior to be while staying at her guest cottage. You better not light a candle..........you better pull down the comforter before napping...............you better turn off the ceiling fan before turning on the gas fireplace............you better call and tell her if you don't plan on attending breakfast the next morning! You would think the perfectionist ***y Becky would keep the 5 cottage rooms clean - but we found dust everywhere, especially the windowsill when we lifted the shade.

Comfort Inn And Suites: A stay outside the city   Compare Rates NEW!
  • Satisfaction:
  • Our room was ready when we arrived at 3:30. As with most places now, this Comfort Inn & Suites had wireless internet in all the rooms and a business office also with a computer for general use on a small table in the lobby. We had a microwave refrigerator in our room and a wet bar. The lighting was not good in this room. The light that was between the beds was not working for both lightbulbs. There were no electrical outlets for the floor lamp on the wall behind the beds, so my husband moved it over to the desk, which did help. There are no rooms with a view here. It is surrounded by businesses with buildings and trucks. It's in an area that is developing and has a new condo unit going in about 2 blocks up the road. It's perfectly safe and very clean. The pool was not heated but the hot tub was working. We paid a Senior's rate of $77 a night, including tax. I would stay here again and would recommend staying here.

Breakfast did not include any meat either morning, but they had the Texas Waffles along with hot and dry cereals, toast, sweet rolls, very good scrambled eggs with salsa sauce, no bagels but they did have English muffins. They also had fresh apples and bananas along with apple juice and orange juice and coffe and tea. They had hot chocolate which was left out all afternoon and evening for a snack. Lots of families with kids came in on Friday night so we tried to get down to breakfast early both mornings, which worked for us.

Fredericksburg Brewing Co.: In the same building as the Brewpub
  • Satisfaction:
  • We stayed in the "Vineyard" room, which is large but a little dark inside. As it's somewhat detached I've read that it's possibly a little quieter than some of the other rooms. However, I can't say for sure about the other rooms, since they're upstairs in the main part of the brewpub. Even though we were there during Oktoberfest, it wasn't too hard to get a table in the brewpub. The food was authentic German and the beer was good, but I was disappointed there was no Hefeweiss on tap. It's within walking distance to everything in town, which adds to its appeal for us.

Fredericksburg Inn & Suites: A Family Geared Inn   Compare Rates NEW!
  • Satisfaction:
  • The hotel was clean and the bed was very large. The bathroom was rather small. They provided a microwave, small refridgerator, ironing board and iron, as well as a TV with cable. This place is really geared more towards families, as kids were running all over the place. The two pools were filled to maximum capacity and the over all feeling of the place was too small and too crowded.

The rooms all opened to the outside and parking was very limited and was very cramped, also. The Inn is a two block walk to downtown, so once you parked, you could just leave the car, if you didn't mind hiking around.

La Quinta Inn: A Very Nice Place to Spend the Weekend.
  • Satisfaction:
  • This La Quinta is obviously rather new. The suites are spacious and for what you pay, it is really a good value. The beds are large and so are the bathrooms. The rooms are soundproofed very well and I don't remember hearing one person walking by the doors, which all open to interior cooridors.

La Quinta has the typical continental breakfast. They have one computer and access to it and the internet are complimentary. They have free net access in all the rooms, also, if you have your own laptop. This La Quinta was just very clean and comfortable.
