I fly into Houston International Airport from the UK and need to get my family of 6 to Galveston for a Cruise. Is there public transport? It would appear that Car hire companies don't do drop off's in Galveston? Can anybody advise. Many Thanks

This gives a list of taxi's and buses that connect between Houston and Galveston. Try contacting one of them directly.
Entering 6 adults into the limo/shuttle reservation search, found $380 roundtrip for all 6 people.

If you contact the rental companies by phone and speak with a live person, you may get a different story than what is posted on their web pages.
But typically rental car agencies only do one-way rentals if there is an airport nearby. Otherwise over time, they inventory of cars might go out of balance.
Some companies will allow you a one-way rental, if you pay a relocation fee for the car. Basically the cost for one of them to go down and pick it up.

visit Moody Gardens. A beautiful facility, inside and out and you can spend the entire day (which we did) wandering through the exhibits! The tropical rain forest is especially nice with the fish, birds and plants. It was refreshing and seemed much cooler and more comfortable after a long drive from Lake Conroe.
Party Time

February is Mardi Gras time. The celebration takes place on The Strand in the historic district with elaborate parades, masked balls, festive music and other special events. Party goers attend from all over the world.
Oleander Planting

"Oleander is one of the most poisonous plants and contains numerous toxic compounds, many of which can be deadly to people, especially young children. The toxicity of Oleander is considered extremely high and it has been reported that in some cases only a small amount had lethal or near lethal effects (Goetz 1998). " Taken from Wikipedia
While touring Broadway's Victorian mansions I came upon this sight. I didn't think much of it but snapped the shot. Funny how I stumbled upon this fact on the internet.
Just one of those funny facts!
DO NOT EAT HERE!
by msbrandysue about La Palmita Tex Mex Cafe
Food was in abundance at Dickens on the Strand but we wanted to find a sit-down place. We, unfortunately, made the mistake of ordering at La Palmita. We were warned that the food would take 30 minutes. However, we only ordered a burger and taco salad thinking that would make it a bit shorter. We weren't upset until we were the only people in the place without food. We went up to check on our order multiple times and it was never ready. Finally, right before the parade was to start our number was called. Many people were upset here. With only two people working (one taking orders/money and one cooking) I don't know why on earth they wouldn't bring in more help for this huge event.
They were not very concerned with our feelings. The taco salad was fine.....I wouldn't waste your money though.

The Moody Gardens has lots of indoor and outdoor activies to do. It has different projects to do through out the year.
Moody Gardens has three pyramids. They are the rainforest, discovery (IMAX theater), and the aquaruim pyramids. It also has The Colonel that is a paddlewheel boat that sails out in the Galveston's Bay. Then, there is the Palm Beach. A white sanded like beach that has all kinds of water activies including a outdoor band that plays great cover music all day.
