Element Hotel Dallas Fort Worth: Super clean

by cyrpawn

It is very easy to get to from the DFW airport, Just follow 635 and Belt line rd. Ample parking spaces.
I arrived on a Thursday and after a long day of travelling was greeted by a welcome reception with free fajitas, chips and salsa, desserts, and wine, sodas, and beer.
I sat outside by the pool sipping my Zinfandel, noshing on chips.
My room was a suite with a king-sized bed, two couches, large spa rain nozzel shower.
There were clean dishes and towels. No stains on the carpets or bedbugs.
The room had a stove, clean microwave, and fridge.
If I had a complaint it would be that the hallway and room smelled like solvent (carpet glue?).

Very clean and spacious, sparce decorations
The pool was small but nice.
The lobby breakfast area was nicely equipt.

Days Inn: Decent Budget Motel in Waco

by Basaic

This motel was getting older but still not bad. It had a few extras like a refrigerator and a microwave. Staff was pretty nice. A decent choice for those on a budget (as long as you don't want to use the pool). $62 as of March 2011.

Victorian Inn: Not the Best Choice in Waco

by Basaic

This place looked neat on the outside with victorian accents but the inside was well past its prime. There was a Refrigerator and a Microwave. The owner was not overly friendly but his son was better. The Internet was very intermittent. At least it was cheap ($52 as of March 2011).

Days Inn: Decent Budget Motel in San Angelo

by Basaic

This motel was kind of a study in contrasts. It was fairly new and in decent shape; but it has no extras like a refrigerator and microwave. The staff was professional but not very friendly. I did enjoy the hot breakfast at their restaurant.

Stagecoach Inn: Very Nice Historic Hotel in Salado

by Basaic

I had read about a famous and historic hotel somewhere in the area; but with gathering clouds on a chilly March evening I was tired and just wanted to stop for the night. I saw a sign for a motel and it happened to be the historic one. The Stagecoach Inn began life in 1861 as the Shady Villa Inn a prominent stop along the Chiholm Trail. Today the old part of the inn is a nice restaurant with a new motel built around it. There are lots of facilities offered by the place: Two restaurants, a bar, conference facilities, a large pool, a jacuzzi, a patio for all first floor rooms, and more. They even have a golf course and a nature trail. The motel is located near the old district of Salado. Be advised though that they do not have many extras in the rooms. No microwave or refrigerator. No TV. There is also no Internet unless you are in a pollside room which is $20 more. Speaking of money this motel is not cheap either ($81 as of March 2011).

Super 8: Nice new hotel in Odessa

by Basaic

This is a new hotel so the facilities are in great shape. It was spotless inside and out and had a few extras like a small refrigerator, a microwave, a nice sized flat screen TV, and a bathroom bigger than some motel rooms. The staff was nice and professional. Only drawback is that there are no places to eat nearby. A bit expensive though at $101 a night for a single with a discount as of March 2011.

Days Inn: Acceptable Budget Motel in Kilgore

by Basaic

This motel was acceptable with a microwave and a small refrigerator. The general facilities were older and needed a little work. I was amused when I first tried to check in as the owners mother-in-law (who spoke almost no English) was at the desk. The guy apologized profusely but I was amused. He was pretty nice. Overall average and maybe acceptable if you are on a tight budget. I paid $56 in March 2011.

Best Western: Decent Motel in Johnson City

by Basaic

This was a fairly decent motel; but it was a bit expensive for what you got. There was a microwave and a small refrigerator and a slightly better than average breakfast. The service was average. I did like the sense of humor (see photo 3). I paid $101 in March 2011.

Near LBJ National Histroic Site

Days Inn: Decent Motel in Big Springs

by Basaic

This motel is getting a bit older but they are trying to keep it maintained and there is a newer building. There were a few extras like a microwave and a small refrigerator. The owners/ managers seemed pretty nice and spoke English well. Not a bad choice if you are on a budget.

Motel 6: Motel 6

by Suet

I used the Motel6 group of motels on my recent trip around Texas. I found them to be clean, roomy and comfortable with twin double beds in the rooms, a decent bathroom and of course TV and phone. They kept asking me for a AA card (which I didn't have) as they do discounts using that card. I also found out later on that they give points on our KLM frequent flyer card. You might want to check them out online and see what offers they have. If you are nearing 60, they give discounts too. http://www.motel6.com/ They also have an outside pool (in all the places I stayed at) which closes at 9pm.

I'm beginning to sound like an advert, but it was the cheapest way for me.

I also stopped at some privately owned Motels and managed to drive the price down to $25 a night, mind you, I found a cockroach in my discarded clothing on the floor.... do remember to bargain if you are low on cash.
