If you gonna play in Texas
by Maria250
If you're gonna play in Texas, you gotta have a fiddle in the band
That lead guitar is hot but not for "Lousiana Man"
So rosin up that bow for "Faded Love" and let's all dance
If you're gonna play in Texas, you gotta have a fiddle in the band
I remember down in Houston we were puttin' on a show
When a cowboy in the back stood up and yelled, "Cotton-Eyed Joe"!
He said, "We love what you're doin', boys don't get us wrong
There's just somethin' missin' in your song"
If you're gonna play in Texas, you gotta have a fiddle in the band
That lead guitar is hot but not for "Lousiana Man"
So rosin up that bow for "Faded Love" and let's all dance
If you're gonna play in Texas, you gotta have a fiddle in the band
So we dusted off our boots and put our cowboy hats on straight
Them Texans raised the roof when Jeff opened up his case
You say y'all all wanna two-step
You say ya wanna doe-si-doe
Well, here's your fiddlin' song before we go
If you're gonna play in Texas, you gotta have a fiddle in the band
That lead guitar is hot but not for "Lousiana Man"
So rosin up that bow for "Faded Love" and let's all dance
If you're gonna play in Texas, you gotta have a fiddle in the band
If you're gonna play in Texas, you gotta have a fiddle in the band
That lead guitar is hot but not for "Lousiana Man"
So rosin up that bow for "Faded Love" and let's all dance
If you're gonna play in Texas, you gotta have a fiddle in the band

Great Irish Pub - Great Pizza Too!
by H-TownJourneyman about Kenneally's Irish pub
This 2 story Irish Pub located on South Shepherd just north of Westheimer is not only known for it's great, laid back atmosphere and abundance of beers on tap. They also make a pretty good pizza here as well! Kenneally's is very popular with university students around town, as well as people that have long since graduated! In other words, you will find all sorts of people here, and of all different ages. Even with 2 stories of space, it can get quite full in here on the weekends. But there is also additional seating on the outside deck. When the place gets crowded, parking can be a little bit of an issue, as the bar itself has limited parking, and the surrounding businesses are very observant of bar patrons using their spaces, and are quick to phone a towing company to haul your car off. If you happen to be around on St. Patrick's Day in March, this place has one of the best parties in the city for the event! But any day of the week, this is a great place to relax and sip on a pint of Guiness. Oh yeah, and try the pizza, it's great! :) Very Casual
Houston Tip
by semanuel
Churascos is a dress up place (slacks, tie, and jacket or a dress for ladies) and it's a little more expensive, but the other restaurants are more casual (jeans and a button down shirt) and reasonably priced. There are many good restaurants in Houston. I'll just list a few:
Churascos-plantain chips and tender steak,
Good Co. BBQ,
Nit Noi in Rice Village - Thai,
Ginza on San Felipe - excellent sushi
Light Rail
by LiveInHouston
The light rail was inaugurated on January 1, 2004 -- quite an event for this auto-dominated city. For $2 you can ride all day. See downtown, walk in the tunnels; stop by the Museum of Fine Arts, the Contemporary Art Museum, the Museum of Natural Science, Hermann Park, the Medical Center. Have lunch at Treeneard's in fowntown or Artista at the new Wortham Center, with a view of downtown. Walk the park-like campus of Rice University.

It's a wooded, marshy area with allegators, a large creek and bordered on one side by the Brazos River.
There are plenty of trails, camping areas, picnic areas with BBQ's and the usual guide and maps are available from the rangers office. Cost is about $2-3 per person.
