i am buying a home in willow springs off 249 near 1/45-i would like to know the crime rate in the subdavisoin and area
I don't have an answer - but do make sure you find out before you sign those papers. I worked in Houston for four months, and while I enjoyed the area, I heard some personal horror stories and was harrassed once in a supposedly "nice" area - close to one of the loops.
Traffic is also horrendous, so factor in what you will need to spend in time and gasoline every day. I loved the malls, the people are friendly, and I also liked Memorial Park where I used to go jogging on the weekends (too much traffic to get there during the week).

249/I-45 is not a particularly good area. Mostly low density, lots of low-end trailer parks. In that part of the area, you need to get outside of the beltway by at least five miles. Also, I'm fairly certain that it's in unincorporated Harris County, so you'd need the Harris County crime stats: http://www.hcso.hctx.net/callstats/
The local Police might have an online mapping system that is publicly available that you can use to look at crimes in the area. I know this type of thing is available for other large cities. You could try searching under maps, crime maps or GIS (geographic information systems).
Not sure where to put this .. but just a warning for those going to a concert in the Reliant Stadium... bring binoculars or prepare to spend time watching the jumbotron! You see those little people on the stage? That's Tim McGraw and the Dancehall Doctors from the last row of the 100 series seats! Pretty small, eh? Yeah... well now you know why there are jumbotrons to see what he really looks like!
Access to the parts of the reservoir described here is at three locations.
1. The parking lot for the west end of Buffalo Bayou is also a great place for getting onto the dam. The lot is a little ways south of Memorial on the west side of Hwy 6. A path leads from the parking to the dam which is clearly visible. I once saw an alligator in the water coming under the dam. I also described this location in my Buffalo Bayou access tip.
2. The best parking lot to go into the reservoir is on the west side of Hwy 6 at the intersection with Briar Forest Road (maybe Briar Forest Drive). The parking lot is just north of a gas station that was a Diamond Shamrock station when I was there.
3. The third access point is a little park called George Bush Park that is just over the dam on Westheimer. To reach this park, one must take Westheimer west past Hwy 6. The road forks, and one must take the right fork past a National Guard armory. The road crosses the dam, and the park is a little further on the left. This parking lot is good for going south along the dam but not as good for seeing much else.
The best way to get there would be by jet. You can get good to great deals from either www.hotwire.com or www.bestfares.com.
Use Metro or a rental, if you don't already have your own transportation.
Great food, laid-back atmosphere. Great place for low-key business lunches or hanging out with friends. Beautiful bar is the centerpiece for this restraunt. 'British'-style food, the soups have won awards
Nestled among the towering skyscrapers of downtown Houston is a small, little-visited reminder of where this vast city began and who lived here. During the 19th century, this was just a small east Texas town. Here you get an idea what it was like then.
The Heritage Society preserved this old, historic place.
