the computer upgraded me but not my wife
by brotherspage
just flew to canada with the wife. i travel several times a month to the west coast from houston so i have a great deal of flyer miles. after i told the gate agent my wife is traveling with me.she was able to upgrade my wifes ticket also . she said the reservation must not have been made correctly by their agent or our agent . can anyone tell me what the agent did wrong and what to get the agent to check next time.
plan to take the wife to mexico this fall..

Make SURE they are on the same PNR.
Passenger Name Record.
That way if the computer does something automatically it does it for both. Unfortunately it may not do anything because of the non high level flier.
Sometimes you must do a little work to make sure all is OK

sounds like the inhouse travel agency or the agency that has the contract to make the bussiness travel arrangements for you pulled up your record that they have in their system just like when you travel alone on bussiness,. this record has all the information the agency needs to make the reservation except one already in it. the agent chooses the flights you need and then sends it and the reservation is made.
the agent then made a reservation for you wife and did not link the records together for some reason.
let the agency know of this experience with non linked reservations.
or as someone said put all people traveling together on the same prn ,or as few as possible ,if they are all using the same combination of flights.

Travel Tips for Houston
you sunk my battle ship

INFORMATION
In 1948, the Battleship TEXAS became the first battleship memorial museum in the U.S. That same year, on the anniversary of Texas Independence, the Texas was presented to the State of Texas and commissioned as the flagship of the Texas Navy. In 1983, the Texas was placed under the stewardship of the Texas Parks and Wildlife and is permanently anchored on the Buffalo Bayou and the busy Houston Ship Channel. The Texas Parks and Wildlife's 1,200-acre San Jacinto Battleground State Historic Site consists of the Battleground, Monument and Battleship TEXAS. These sites are located within minutes of downtown Houston and a short distance to the beaches of Galveston Island. Millions of visitors come to this area each year to enjoy the mild coastal climate and cultural and sports activities. Students and visitors alike are most fortunate to be able to experience history first hand through living history at the San Jacinto Battleground and Battleship TEX

'Bush Intercontinental Airport' (IAH) is the international airport here in Houston, so - if you look carefully - you can find a direct flight to IAH from many places in the world. If you're flying from another state in the U.S., keep in mind that Southwest Airlines flies into another airport - Hobby Airport - that's actually much closer to downtown and will save you about half of your cab fare. And, speaking of cab fare, ALWAYS ask the cabbie about the 'zone rate' ... That means there's a maximum rate they can charge you depending on which zone of the city you're trying to get to. By virtue of asking that question, most taxi drivers will figure you know what you're talking about and will be less inclined to cheat you!
Everybody drives in Houston and the rent car rates are relatively cheap. The public transportation consists of a bus system that is efficient, but not the best option. That's because 6 months of the year the climate is extremely warm and you'd have to wait outside at the bus stop so long, you'd constantly sweat through your clothes. Plus there's always the chance you'd get lost and end up in a 'not-so-safe' neighborhood.
Traffic is pretty brutal too, especially during peak rush hours. So keep in mind there's a tollway that encircles the city that will assist you in getting around the traffic if you need to get to particular areas of town.
fine dining - trendy food
by John_P_LSU about Ruggles Grill
Try Chef Ben's smoked salmon with warm potato cake or the barbecue chicken quesadillas with goat cheese, roasted onions, and poblano (Molzan redefined quesadillas in this town). Dinner entrees could range from a simple grilled chicken breast with Pinot Noir sun-dried cherry sauce or grilled, bacon-wrapped filet with wild mushrooms to a saucier grilled pork chop dish with red wine and ancho chile cream. The notable wine list is sprinkled with some French classics, trendy Spanish and Australian choices, and multitudes of California winners. Signature sweets are the chocolate creme brulee cheesecake, bread pudding, and white chocolate mousse.

At the beginning of December each year(last year Dec. 12-15) they have the Candlelight Tour of Homes at Heritage Park. It is just wonderful with all of the decorations and the historic homes. They have community choirs singing throughout the park and you can buy refreshments.

'Houston, we have a problem!!!' is a phrase that Hollywood has immortalized. The Nasa Space Center is located 15 minutes from downtown Houston. Stick to your car or try and find a shuttle bus service..
