Best airline from Houston to the UK?

by MarvintheMartian

Dear All,
Can anyone give a recommendation for which airline provides the best service to the UK (London Gatwick or Heathrow)?
I'm interested in standard of service during flight, length of seats (I'm 6 foot tall), and in-flight entertainment. Also only really interested in direct flights.
I'll also be flying Houston to London return, so any recommendation for good US websites to check out would also be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Martin

Hola Martin!
Nice to type w/ you again! (LOL!) Look into TED from HOU to ATL, then check out BA from ATL to Heathrow. They have some great prices. (And, keep in mind, Denver to Gatwick is only $99 (USD) RT.) Just a shot. Hope all is well...

If you're only interested in direct non stop flights then Continental (CO) and British Airways are your only options. Both of these airlines fly nonstops from IAH to Gatwick.

From my experience, CO has decent service, you'll fly on their 777, which is the world's most technically advanced airliner, seat pitch for coach is the industry standard 32", you'll get 2 meals, and PTV (personal TVs) on every seats.

BA also has good service, and you'll also fly on a 777, seat pitch for coach is a rather dismal 31", but if you want to fork out some more money you can book World Traveller Plus which offers 37" seat pitch and wider seats, you'll also get 2 meals, and PTVs on every seats.

Hope that helps!

Sunset Beaches to die for... Even in the Winter

by cjuliette

i went to Galveston in January, and found it extremely pleasant, even hot during the day. It's best to stay for the sunset, because the drabness of the city dissapears and all you can see are colors and lights reflecting off the ocean.

Freeway 500

It's do or die on the streets of Houston. PLEASE GO THE SPEED LIMIT...even if you are lost. There is no patience for driving in Houston. Turn signals are obsolete. Look, squeeze in, and be prepared for traffic.

Don't take it personal....it's just the way it is.

Great Sports Bar, Great Wings!

by H-TownJourneyman about Buffalo Wild Wings

Buffalo Wild Wings, formerly known as BW3, is a great chain of sports bars found here in Houston, and throughout the country. An excellent place to drink some beer, eat some wings, and watch some sports! I usually frequent the one located in the Rice Village, but I have been to most of the locations here in town, and they are all equally good. They do have a full menu of food to order, but the place does have the word "wings" in it's name, so I would strongly recommend trying some. They also have a wide variety of beers, both domestic and import, and mixed drinks if you prefer. Big Screen T.V.'s, full glasses of beer, and lots of buffalo wings! What else would you want?!!!

Houston Zoo

by elise_crash

The Houston Zoo is great for all you zoo lovers and those travelling with children! There are many exhibits, and there is almost always some kind of newborn animal. When I went, I paid only $1.50, however, there has been a recent price increase to $5 for adults and $2 for children (age 2-12). It is still worth it, though. And, near certain holidays, they do offer free days. Just check the website.
