How do I get to see the view from waaaay up top of Williams Tower? I'm sure I just can't walk in and go to the top! (I would really love a night-time view.)
Thanks!!
You can't. It's not open to the public. Seems kinda silly, huh?
The best you'll do is the 60th floor of the Chase Tower, Downtown. You can take the elevator up during regular business hours (M-F, 8-5). There are a whole slew of places where you can go at night and get a pretty good view in Houston. I know of some, most on the UH campus and by the Medical Center, but there are many others and I'm sure that there's a more comprehensive list somewhere online.
hth
There is the San Jacinto Monument.

Clear Lake Shores is an island on Clear Lake located next to the Kemah bridge (just South of the bridge of highway 146). It is an original neighborhood with houses on stilts, a slow pace of life (people go around on golf carts). It is quaint. It can be beautiful at sunset with the reflection on the water. You can watch the sailboat go by. Perfect for artists and poets! It is great for a casual stroll. It is a great change from steral boring typical suburbia.
You order a steak and it comes, sizzling, overlapping the large oblong plate on both ends, thick and juicy... and then, there's the steak for two!
Not a real extensive menu, but then there doesn't have to be! You can get steak or burgers, and you get fries and a salad, and that's it. The owners cook and serve Thursday thru Saturday.
They've expanded their seating area in the last few years from just a few tables and barstools inside, to several picnic tables on a patio, which they now can enclose.
This is the place to meet friends and have the very best steak you've ever had! Rob knows how to cook steak and Sherry knows how to welcome customers! STEAK!
Houston has over 12,000 restaurants right from the elegance of Tony Vallone's at over $100 a head to the mexican cantina serving up sizzling fajitas at a steal...Few of my personal favorites are Cafe Annie, Tony Vallones, Pappadeaux... oooohhhhh.. i could go on..just walk through downtown and you are sure to find something that suits your palate.
One of the advantages of living in such a huge city is the wealth of exhibitions that come through museums. The best come from the Houston Museum of Natural Science. Recently, we just finished the Body Worlds exhibit and a few months later is the Terra Cotta Warrior exhibit. And, yes, friends, the real things. I'm just using these as an example of the Mega-Museum that is in Downtown Houston.
Not only are there killer temporary exhibits but there are great permanent exhibits like the dinos and the Africa exhibit. The hands on physics area is also really fun.
You get into those with an admission ticket of about $25.00. Uh huh, that's right. It's not cheap! And that's not even getting started. Then you have the Kockrell Butterfly Center that costs around $10.00. And you can't pass up the IMAX theatre with their revolving movies for about the same price (maybe $13.00). And the off-site planetarium is a must for all astronomers and star gazers.
The gift shop is absolutely amazing. Good luck getting your kids out of there without pitching a fit. Actually, I'm sure you'll find something yourself!
It's a great family place. There is a McDonald's inside which is the only dining option but it's cheaper than other museums I've seen. Just beware, Houstonians LOVE this place and it can get very crowded, even on a Sunday afternoon.
Park in the garage that is connected to the museum. Parking is also about $10.00 so save your pennies to come here!
