Indian restuarant
by touristgal
Hi all,
I will be in Houston for two days on the 28th. I need to find an excellent Indian all veggie type of place to pick up food for my aircraft. Upscale Please.
Thanks and happy eating!

Sorry. Hope I'm not too late. Not many upscale Indian restaurants here are all veg, but all will cater to veg. clients. If you really want to stick to an all veg restaurant, Bombay Sweets on Hillcroft is popular with our crowd, but it's cheap. Madras Pavilion on Kirby is a bit more upscale, and that one used to be all veg. It has branched out, and I know the one in our area in Sugar Land also has meat dishes now. There's an Udipi Cafe nearby that is all veg too. If you want to try an upscale place that also does meat dishes but will cater veg only for you, Bombay Palace, Shiva's, India's, Khyber, Mayuri's, and Ashiana are all pretty good.
Travel Tips for Houston
Houston Aeros - Ice Hockey
by ratherton
Ice Hockey - I'd only seen it a couple of times on TV before. A group of us went over to watch the Aeros play Cincinatti Cloggers (I think thats what they were called).
Being a Brit, I had all sorts of pre-conceptions about what to expect. The description of a previous match was "I went to see a fight and a hockey match broke out"
Entrace was about $8 including the car-parking which compared to Premier League football prices in England, was a bargain. Beer in the stadium was another matter.
$5 for Bud Lite (what's the idea behind that!!).
It's hard to name one favorite...

It's hard to name one favorite spt in Houston to party, I will name my favorite street...Richmond Avenue. This is probably Houston's most party oriented area with all types of clubs, pubs, restaurants and all sorts of other entertainment. From Acid Rock to Zydeco this street has it all!!
There is always something going on here and you can never get tired of trying out new places to dance and meet people. Richmond Avenue brings together such a large cross section of cultures and people that you are see something new in each face. You gotta love it! In most clubs on Richmond Ave. the dress code goes as follows: Girls- clothes of any sort. No swimsuits.
Guys- No shorts(this one varies), No sandals, No baseball caps.
Pappasitos Cantina
by jackdewey about Pappasitos Cantina
Pappasitos is part of a chain of restaurants located primarily in Texas and in Georgia.
This particular restaurant is a Mexican restaurant and a good one at that. Their nacho chips are very fresh and their tortillas are made on the spot. The restaurant is quite large. Chicken Fajitas
Hermann Park
by H-TownJourneyman
Located 3 miles south of downtown & adjacent to the Texas Medical Center and Rice University is Hermann Park. With all of it's activities that are available and proximity to other attractions within the city, Hermann Park is one of Houston's premiere locations for recreation. The park itself has a nice 2 mile jogging trail around it's perimeter, and the golf course has recently been renovated, along with the driving range. McGovern Lake is located at the center of the park, and you can rent a paddleboat to cruise around it. Miller Outdoor Theatre has shows year-round that are free to the public. The Houston Zoo is also within the park, open every day of the year except Christmas Day. If you feel up to a train ride, the Hermann Park Miniature Train runs 7 days a week through the park. And with the Houston Museum District just across the street, Hermann Park is a great place to spend a day in Houston.
San Jacinto Battlefield State Park
by Tom_Fields
Here, Sam Houston won the war of Texan independence by surprising the Mexican General Santa Anna and his army while they took a siesta. The rest, as they say, is history. This monument, since this IS Texas, is just a few feet taller than the Washington Monument. The battleship Texas is berthed nearby.
