The image that most people...
by sassy_420
The image that most people have of Texas is something out of the old wild west movies. Yes, there are cows, and yes people do wear cowboy boots and hats. However, Houston and the rest of Texas is growing in many ways; from the medical center in Houston to the latest agricultural devlopements at Texas A & M. I think the abilty us Texans have to be immensely proud of our past, both good and bad, is what is helping us to keep the future insight.
Outdoor Shopping In The Woodlands
by H-TownJourneyman about Market Street
This fashionable outdoor shopping, dining, & entertainment area is located in The Woodlands, just north of Houston. Many people enjoy the outdoor atmosphere of Market Street, a unique concept for The Woodlands. The area around the center of the complex is very nicely landscaped, with a couple of water fountains and many benches for sitting. There are several clothing stores here such as Tommy Bahama, Hemline, & Tickled Pink. Bombay, Z Gallerie, & Storehouse are some of the many home furnishing stores, and there is even a HEB Central Market location for groceries. Of the many restaurants located here, Grotto, Cafe Express, and Berryhill are a few of the favorites. There is also a movie theater here, and a small children's museum. And frequently throughout much of the year there are small events being held in the center of Market Street, such as music & fashion shows. So much to choose from, take your pick! :) Market Street stores for the most part are not cheap, as many of them are more fashionable and trendy. But the locations here, as well as the restaurants, are no more expensive than in Houston.
On the Bayou
by kyoub about Blue
Blue is an outdoor bar located at Brenner's on the Bayou Steakhouse.
We love to go there just for cocktails before dinner.
There is a large seating area and beautiful gardens.
There is a wedding reception there some times and then the place gets rather crowded.
Most of the time it is rather quiet if you go early.
Great Mexican in Clear Lake (SE of Houston)
by XenoHumph about Lupe Tortilla's
This nice Mexican restaurant serves classical Mexican and TexMex dishes which are very good. And for once, you can actually get spicy food! The fajitas are best.
Note, this restaurant is great for kids as there is an outdoor playground for them. But, if you are not willing to eat next to screaming brats, there are little quiet rooms available too! Great margarita's with a kick, they are not shy on the alcohol content!
Great fajitas, spicy stuffs!
Baseball Game at Enron Field
by schmoopy
Enron Field was opened in 2000 and is an immaculate baseball facility. Capacity is over 40,000 people and there is a retractable roof. The noise in the crowd was great when I visited and the fans seemed friendly. There are air conditioned portions of the facility (lounges etc.) which are heavenly on a hot day when the roof is open.
