2 airports 1 hotel

by rmarten

Is there a good hotel that provides complimentary transportation to and from both Bush International Airport and Hobby? We have international guests making a 1 day stopover in Houston flying in to the International airport, staying overnight at a hotel, then flying onward from Hobby early the next morning.

Re: 2 airports 1 hotel

by TexasDave

The short answer is No, not to both hotels.
Virtually all the hotels near both airports provide complimentary shuttles to their respective airport. The problem with your situation is that IAH is a 45 min to 1 hour drive away from Hobby, which is SE of downtown.

Re: 2 airports 1 hotel

Hotels don't have a shuttle that does but downtown is in between both airports and Super Shuttle can take them from IAH to downtown and then to Hobby for a fee that is less than taxis. If you want the less expensive transportation the METRO bus (#102) runs from IAH to downtown and (#88) runs from downtown to Hobby airport. See www.ridemetro.org for the schedules

Re: 2 airports 1 hotel

by bocmaxima

No, there are no hotels that have this. The two airports are almost 40 miles apart.
There used to actually be a flight run by Continental Airlines that went between Intercontinental and Hobby (then onto Ellington), but it was canceled a few years ago because of costs.
It may be best to stay at a hotel near Intercontinental, then take a shuttle or taxi to Hobby in the morning. A taxi will be over $60, but it will likely be cheaper than, or about the same as, the shuttle cost x 2.

The usual thing travelers miss...

by Gatorman9

The usual thing travelers miss when visiting Houston is their freeway exit, generally because neither the road layout or the signage is always logical, or, in the case of signs, present at all. This is best avoided by traveling to Houston only on business, taking cabs irrespective of cost, and putting the fares on your expense account.

Fantastic seafood and service

by L-A about Pappa's Seafood House

I wanted the Texas redfish, but it hadn't arrived yet. So I had the Mississippi Catfish, blackened, with jambalaya, and veggies. Also had the keylime pie (wonderful - very different crust with little nuts in it). Service was exceptional. Wine was also good. Bread came piping hot. My server was a blonde girl named Amanda. The catfish. It was flaky, fresh and delicious.

Best Pizza In Town!

by H-TownJourneyman about Star Pizza

This small establishment is known throughout Houston as being one of the best places to get a pizza. They have 2 locations, but most people would agree that this one on Norfolk Street, the original, is the better of the 2. The restaurant itself is actually a 2 story house, with odd decorations and pictures on the walls. But as soon as you walk in and the smell of the freshly baked bread and garlic hits your nose, you'll know why you came here. There is seating inside, downstairs as well as up, and there are some tables outside on the decks both up and down. They have a wide variety of ingredients you can choose to put on your pie, including grilled chicken, vegetables, several diferent cheeses, and of course, pepperoni! The make a wonderful Margherita pizza here, among others. They also have great lasagna, fettucini alfredo, and many different salads and pastas. Also a good selection of beers, along with soft drinks. They do deliver to a very limited area around the Texas Medical Center and Rice University, but I would recommend going in for the full experience! Rosemary and Garlic Chicken Pizza. Excellent, and suprisingly, gives you great breath! (Sarcasm!)

Nice For a Rainy (or Extremely Hot) Day

by TexasDave

The Muesum of Natural History in Houston isn't near as big as what you'd see in NYC or Washington DC, but provides a nice half-day activity nonetheless. It has a very in-depth display of minerals and gems and a good amount of dinosaur skeletons and fossils. There is also an IMAX theater and frequent special exhibitions that are very worthwhile (at an extra cost, of course).
